Ilona, you're not going to believe Misha's image. Notice a leaf that doesn't look like the rest?

I don't have an insect one, so I thought I'd throw in an animal. May have to click for the full view to find it.
Fantastic thread Ilona.

Congrats on the calendar. I've had bird calendars forever... right now it's song birds. I would love to know the name of the calendar using your pictures. Maybe its sold here locally in GA?

Erupting volcano? GULP. I hope you have a BIG telephoto lens. I think my dream shots would be of a salmon run with grizzly bears feeding. That too, with a BIG telephoto lens.

Definitely sharpening in postwork is the way to go. I think I got the impression that you were not postworking the images, which in that case "in cam" sharpening is better than none... for most images anyways. Also, many times you don't want all of the picture sharpened. For example, you may not want to sharpen a beautiful soft bokeh. In-cam sharpening sharpens everything. I'm a strong advocate of shooting in RAW as well. All white balance, sharpening, exposure adjustment, etc is done in postwork.
"Damia Macro Mania"... has a nice ring to it. lol

Oh yes, I am dying for a macro lens too. I don't think I've had my wide angle lens on my camera more than a couple of times. I find landscapes very beautiful, but a little boring to shoot. Everything I find that seems interesting seems to be closeup and personal. I guess we'll just have to settle for macro-envy.
