Use the same fake effect that you did for the bulb light. Use glow in the screen and a spot light with a very low range as the source. You cna always ignore some objects from being lighted, so will not affect the room os body parts of the character.

If I am understanding what you mean, you need to set the light Range to a value about the distance that you want you light cover, so it will not fill the room. Other good thing to do is Falloff range to about 50%, this way light will vanish before it get the Range value.

Here you can get the scene:

Yes, please dont use anything glows, its create a very strange shadow and take a lot to render a very good quality, use it for letters ou something that dont look like a simple light source as a lamp.

Set the bulb to glow material and add some Aura effect to this object. This aura will create the glow in it.
Dont use shadows at 100% this will create a very dark shadow, unless you will use Indirect Light to render, that will minimize this effect, the good point is about 65 - 85 percent.
Remember that turning on GI will wash your scene and colors will get more light.
Also use cone lights intead distant ones, its more faster to render and get better results and control.
Dont forget to use soft shadows to kill the hard edges of the shadows (men this looks like a title for Batmam movies...)

Thread: Beta for shaders set | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi people, I have to stop a while to get my entry to Renderosity holyday contest done, its like a tradition for me every year.
Now I really finished the Poser shaders set, that was the more difficult to me. Milo is trying it more later this week and if someone more want to try just send me a PM and I will provide the link to download.
I will work in the new shaders for Carrara today, just need to fix somethings that I changed in the Poser shaders as well.
Thanks all.
PS.: Please post you renders here or anywhere so others can see, just credit it.

Thread: Using Poser files in Carrara | Forum: Carrara
Hi, her eyou can follow some tutorials I did about using Poser content in Carrara. You need to have in mind that you need a folder with the basic Runtime structure inside to work:
Folder name/ Libraries
/ Geometries
/ Textures
Inside those other folder theres place for all your content. This is a Poser request that Carrara need to follow to understand where get objects and textures.
Now take a look at those tutorials:

Thread: Animating V4 & M4 in Carrara without bvh or DAZ Animate | Forum: Carrara
mark is right, the problem when people think in aimation, they try to create a frame by frame thing that really dont work. You need to planning your sequence using a storyboard or you will do a lot of unnecessary shots and animations.
After the storyboard is done you can start to calculating time, every action need to have a time, so you can calculate how many frames it will have.
Now with you time sheet you can start to create animation blocks, that will be used as clips, but not a frame at time, but try to see where the movements change and create the master keys, let Carrara do the inbetween frames for you BUT you will need to back and adjust them after all o get a more smooth and realistic transition.
In general in a big studio, they first move the character as a block throught the space (scene), after that they create the master keys for hip (gravity like Mark said), after that legs, arms and other parts. The key is adding details, like in modelling.
Other thing that is very very important in animation is antecipation! You need to understand this very basic idea: an arm never goes up without down a little bit! Antecipation is very easy: before animate, go in front a mirror and do YOU the movement! This way you will see how your body really moves.

Thread: Render artifact | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi people, thansk for the answer so far. I am using Poser 2012 in Windows 8 Pro 64 bits.
Looks that the problem is related to the bump channel, when I increase it I get more artifacts.
This light set is an old GI rig, I will try more lights tomorrow, after fight with the bumps that is really different from others like Lightwave or Carrara.
