I'm going to stand by my previous comments about Apollo not being a "cheap" figure. But I also stand by my statement that it is a good VALUE. And FWIW I believe the figure is WORTH the price tag. Anton said: "The default look is exactly that. Defeault as in Neutral, as in indifferent, as in a base, something to start with, etc." Yep, I know. Which is why I didn't let his default look stop me from buying Apollo when he was released. It looks like you've got a big hit on your hands Anton, and I'd say you deserve it. Definitely consider me part of the group that anxiously awaits the release of Apollo's counterpart figure next year.

Apollo ain't cheap (fifty bucks is fifty bucks whichever way you look at it), but I think it's a good value. You get a lot for that fifty bucks. I'm still trying to decide exactly how much I like AMax. He's a good figure from what I've seen so far, but I absolutely HATE his default look. That's not to take anything away from the work Anton's done. Like he said himself, taste is subjective. Ironically given that people in the past have complained about the Mike or Vicki "look" I've found that 90% of AMax renders I've seen so far have what I would term the "Apollo look" to them (it does seem to take quite a bit of effort and unlearning/relearning to get away from that). But the few different ones I've seen have been substantially different. And that gives me hope.
Thread: CONSIDERING BUYING WARDOBE WIZARD BUT................... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ernyoka: yes I know about the workarounds (including the one that was posted by Kamchile on the yahoo group) for transferring morphs, but as you said, they are done outside of Wardrobe Wizard and as seen in the above post, it doesn't always work 100%. I just meant that if WW supported this within the application itself, that would be great. In fact it's the only real improvement I can think of at the moment for an otherwise (near) perfect program. :)

The few attempts I've made in WW have turned out pretty well for the most part. I don't dabble with the animation features so I'm not sure about that. Most items as mentioneed will need some slight tweaking afterwards but most of the time it won't be too much of a problem. The only downside that I consider to be significant enough to consider is the fact that the clothing morphs are not transferred. It's the one detail that keeps WW from (in my mind) being the "perfect app" for Poser.

Wardrobe Wizard I have to say, is pretty damn cool. The only thing that would make it better is if it kept the morphs that were originally part of the clothing (without having to employ any outside trickery). Definitely worth $60, even more so the $40 I paid for it.

JMS (creator of Babylon 5) always maintained that perhaps the reason so many aliens look very "human-like" in shape is because nature/evolution/whatever has determined the "two arms, two legs, one head" configuration to be the most advantageous (for whatever reason). Dunno how plausible that is but it always worked for me. :) BTW cute image x2000!
Thread: Freak VS Apollo Maximus--Please Help Me Out | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are certain things I really like about Apollo, but because he is such a different type of figure in terms of design, he is arguably more "difficult" to use than the "standard" style poser figs. Apollo has a certain "look" by default; it's a look that's different from the many M3's and Davids (and even Freaks) out there, but it does seem to take some effort to get rid of that default look. I've seen many renders here and elsewhere so far that look very Apollo-ish. That said I've seen a few that look very different from the default as well. This tells me it is possible, it just takes time and effort. As to my recommendations to the original poster, I'd say it depends on what you're planning to do. If you want to do mostly "big guy" style renders, I'd say go with the Freak. I like the figure a lot myself. If you want something more general purpose, go with Apollo, especially since you've already mentioned Wardrobe Wizard. Think of it this way: Freak is very good for what he's intended as (being a BIG guy), better IMO than Apollo. Apollo however is much better as a general purpose figure, able to do many things, fill many roles. And yes Freak is independant of M3, you don't need one to use the other (not sure if this was answered already). FYI Many of M3's head morphs (all of them? I'm not sure) do work on the Freak as well.

Yeah Acadia, that's definitely true and I never meant to imply otherwise. Many of the things I buy now I wouldn't have considered buying just a year ago, when I was still in slogging my way through school. The way I look at it though, I can regard something as being both expensive (and in many cases too expensive for me) and a good value/bargain at the same time. FWIW though I hope your financial situation improves soon. I've been there myself and I know it ain't fun.
Thread: Wardrobe Wizard sale ending.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Acadia, I saw in another thread you mentioned that finances are a bit tight for you now...still, if you can find a way to swing the purchase, I would definitely consider picking up the Wardrobe Wizard. I was playing around with it the other night and it really is quite easy to use. Not 100% perfect of course (and I didn't expect it to be, and to their credit, the creators never claimed it was), but very close. And what impressed me was the video tutorial files included. Talk about going the extra mile! I think even I could do some of those things, having seen it in action. And as I heard PhilC himself explaining stuff in the clip I was watching, it occurred to me that I had completely forgotten he was English! LOL.

And for the record, yes I think Apollo would still be a good value even if I had to pay $60.

Acadia, I live in the US. Granted it's not the continental US, so I'm always getting the shaft when it comes to nationally advertised special deals (the kind you see on TV), or shipping for whatever products I might order through the mail...still the US so yeah I don't get any word currency conversion things. I stand by my statment though. I'm not saying Apollo is cheap (not even at the $50 price we pay in the US), just that it's a good value in terms of price paid, for stuff recieved. I was thinking in relative terms, according to what a comparable DAZ figure bundle would have cost when it was new.

I ran over to RDNA this morning to take a look. Price initially seemed a bit high for me, but I kept reading and it seems you do get quite a bit for what you're paying. More or less a complete figure with all of the "basics" already covered. So in that respect, Apollo does seem to be a pretty good value.

I don't envy the task they have...contacting every single person who took part in this thing. And there were quite a lot of us. I think I saw somewhere, there were something like 300+ images. That's a LOT of IMs/email to send out. doesn't surprise me that there are still a lot of folks who haven't heard from them.

I'm another one of the Poser to Carrara folks. I used to export as obj and set up my textures manually, but when I upgraded to Carrara 4, it came with Transposer so things got even easier. A good thing, since I could never stand to render in Poser (maybe P6 will change things though). Now I just have to find time to actually do any Poser related things. :)
