Let me see if I have this straight. I go into Poser pref. and turn off something that mentions "binary" to stop it making PMD files. Then I can trash all the PMD files already made. Since the scenes were ones with two or more DAZ figures, I'll just have to limit there use and keep my fingers crossed in the future.
How do I know which version of Poser 6 I have and where to find the updates?
Thanks for all the help.
Thread: Movie??? Where's My scene??!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I looked at the PMD with TextEdit but I have no idea what all that code means. How can I use it to recover the scene? I'm still asking because it just "ate" another scene. I had just hit the save command when the warning message came up saying is was running out of memory. Sure enough, when I checked that scene, it was now a movie, too. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is there a limit to how many characters (including clothing) you can put in a scene? I'm getting afraid to open any old scenes or start new ones until I can figure this out. I need some help.

That's probably what I'll do. I may give SmithMIcro's techies a shot but that sounds like what they'll say, too. Thanks for all your time.

I went to the SmithMicro site and followed their direction to delete the prefs but no luck in fixing the problems. The document, properties and material window pull-down menus still don't function. The Library window also has similar glitch. If I click on the small text pull-down and scroll through the catagories, all the files in that particular area show up except for props. That is stuck on primatives. I can go through the upper headings and do the folder by folder route, but that's the only way to get to the props.
Since the prefs removal didn't work, any other ideas??? Thanks.

I tried resetting the preferences to factory launch settings, re-opened Poser and it still won't let the pop-ups open in the document window or materials. I'll check out your site to see if I missed a step. Thanks for the info.
Thread: pp2 files won't open in Poser 6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, Mariner. My Mac uses Stuffit to unzip, then I drag the pp2 pieces into Library/Props and the JPEGs into the Textures. When I open Poser, they show up in the Library with the "What's This?" outline guy picture. If I click on one and tell it to add to the scene, I get the "not valid Poser file" error pop-up.

I tried redownloading the checkerboard set, replacing the first try with the second in the props and it still tells me it's not a valid Poser file. I only clicked the Mac compatible button and if it were only one item I'd call it bad luck and go on but all 12 of the props do the same thing. I guess I'll have to contact Tyl2000 and see what I'm missing. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you both for your help. I was having nightmares about having to adjust bones and going bald trying to get everything set up correctly. So bottom line is I will just download and drag files to there appropriate locations and start posing? Sounds like a plan!
