I'll agree it lacks detail (particularly on more advanced features like the cloth room) but it is enough to get you going (if nothing else you can pickup on the terms you should be looking for tutorials on ;P). I had never set eyes on poser 7 months ago (or any other 3d app) and the manual was enough to get me going so I am speaking from experience :)

Depends what you want to do, for actually using P5 to make scenes the included manual is actually pretty good - playing while using the manual for reference is enough to figure most things out. Dr Geeps tutorials are about the most comprehensive source of information on the web and there are lots of other good ones here and at Daz. If you actually want to make custom props and figures and set them up for use in poser the best book is 'Secrets of Figure Creation With Poser 5' by B L Render (0240519299)

Have to agree with thefixer - if the thumbnail isn't interesting or nicely made odds are I won't look at the full image. That doesn't mean there has to be a naked lady on it, it just has to look interesting :)

Hey - there's a 'match document window' button! - who'd have thunk it :P I never noticed it and have been typing it in manually for ages lol

Your rendering problem is caused by a mismatch between the render size and document window size. Have a look in 'Window - Document Window Size' These dimensions need to be copied into your render window size in render options. Once you have copied them over tick the 'maintian aspect ratio' box, then you can scale your final render size as you like without cutting of any of the image.

Don't forget you can claim a voucher rebate on the base figures as well if you have already bought them :)

I would suggest downloading Ajax's free materials pack from the free stuff area and looking at the glass materials in there (because I know they work :D) If you want proper glass you will have to use raytracing, I usually find raytracing the shadows is easier than using maps as well, with your system it shouldn't be a problem.

I also have a graphire3 and I love it. I've never tried one of the others but I imagine there must be some improvement for the extra money. You might be better asking in the photoshop forum.

I spent it with a good friend learning how to model stuff :)
