I don't agree with you stefano...
Take a mirror on the wall for instance and look from closeby at the surface of the mirror. The mirror itself is then "in focus". Meaning that you can see little scratches and imperfections on the surface of the mirror.
On the other hand... The reflection of the mirror is still at a distance and you can't get that one sharp unless you focus on it (but then you will lose the focus on the surface of the mirror)

Great pic stefano. Just one thing I wonder about HDRI and DOF though (but that I couldn't get right myself):
"Shouldn't the reflections in the shells have the DOF too as it is a reflection of something in the distance?"

Did you perhaps put a volumetric object (or at least an object with a lot of transparency) in your scene that completely surrounds the scene except (of course) the sky?
That's about the only thing I could think of that can cause what you just said.

Couldn't agree more... Besides the silly color scheme I don't like the layout as it is now: Previously you had to click just once to get where you wanted to go (most of the time). Now you still have to click once on the LEAST important links (features, marketplace, highlights and web ring) but you have to click twice on the most used links (member options and forums). Either be consistent and make it all pull down menus (if you REALLY think it's such a big improvement) or change it so that you can reach the most used links with ONE click instead of two or more. I truly have no idea what people had in mind when they came up with a layout and color scheme like this one.

I saved them as BMP's and differenced them. The only place I could really see a difference this way was in the subscription. The differences are so minimal that I doubt you can see them just by looking at the pics.

It's quite easy to get the placement of the droplets right: - Rotate the glass in a horizontal position - Drop the droplets only on the highest part (so the flat side is against the glass and does not havwe to be rotated) - Group them with the glass and rotate the glass like 10 degrees and start all over again with another 50 droplets. - So on till you have covered the whole glass.

I really like this image... Cool textures, Awsome looking sword and dragonball, Good DOF and lighting... but.. can you point out where the "thingy" can be found? Coz not distinguisable means that it could just as well not be in there. I believe you on your word that it's in there but I think one should be able to see it.

FWTempest.. Thanks for the input about the lighting. I actually tried that and came to the conclusion that I liked it better with the fairly cold colors (the light is slightly blue). I came to that because of the blue that's radiating from the stone on the staff (and because I'm crazy for blue ;)
