p.s. I also selected Render to Disk, and it still took 19 hours. I also had Spatial Op on High and Antialias on FineArt.

Simple, actually. Transparency maps work on a light-to-dark scale. The Poser manual suggests using black and white, and it really does work best. Black is transparent, any color lighter than black is visible. The higher the color, the more visible it is. The top right image appears to have been done thusly: Get the texture map and paint black lines across it, in a venetian-blind pattern. The skin color is left the same, since it is lighter. Now apply that texture in Poser, but set the figure's transparency to full (all sliders to the right). Now adjust the skin color of the figure darker (you may have to get way down into the color scale to get it right). This should produce similar results. The above image appears to have perpendicular lines for the arms. If you can duplicate that filter effect (some sort of swirly-gig?) then you can try to get the swirls to land on the arms, bending the lines so that they are continuous yet even. Here's an image I did using a transparency map on the catsuit. Newc

Not me, but if you find out, how about posting it here for the rest of us? This sort of information could help us all turn out better renders, instead of just guessing.

I have started using the sparay can render thingy over on the disappearing right-hand toolbar. Move the mouse over there and a bunch of tools pop up. Select the sparay can and you can pass it over the area and 'paint' an area in its rendered form. I used it in my pic to check textures. It's fairly slow on reflective areas, but pretty quick on most. I forget where you set the options for it, but it's a handy little tool. A magnifying glass over the little preview window doesn't hurt either. I wish you could resize that thing.

No problem, I'm used to it ;-P Just kidding. I get brain cramps too, especially when I'm working on something.

Thanks. Now that I've tried it and found it works, how do I get it to cough up the Edit function on boolean/grouped objects? I'm trying to make the object in this picture, which was done in Infini-D. Infini-D will only do it in render mode, and won't output the object with holes in it (limitation of DXF I assume).

I seem to recall downloading an avi recently from the FunStuff (one of those Matrix avi's) and it won't play the video because it requires a certain decompressor or something (can't recall). Who made that and was that done with Videdit?

Don't know, BB. I tried the first one late last night early this morning (after I got up before I went to bed) and I kept getting timeouts and unrecognized responses. Maybe it's me, personally? Newc

I can't download either one. I've tried and tried and tried and tried and tried (ad infinitum). If I email you my Xoom.com info can you upload it straight to my site? Email is striker@ecsis.net Thanks. Newc
