Quote - I just checked - all my lamps were on inverse linear after all. With inverse square, the close proximity to IDL objects creates the splotches in my scene as well.
Ah-hah. So, our favorite Poser guru got the same thing I did.
Quote - Inverse square is the more correct one, but only if Poser implemented a minimum distance cutoff clamp value... I don't know why they left out this simple solution...
Any idea how Cage's scene came out so smoothly lit?

The + sign at the end of the product requirement means Poser 9 SR2.1 and above, so, yes, it also works with PP2012.

Quote - The other two were inside the table lamps.
How did you to avoid the splotching I'm getting?

Quote - 2) Move the point lights away from the ceiling a bit more.
Did you use Inverse Square attenuation on the point lights for your lamps in this thread? Where were your lights positioned?
BTW - I tried that idea, and moved my Point light about 10 inches below the ceiling fixture. No dice.

This is a test render I just completed, using the same Foyer with only one Point light at 80% intensity (it was also at 80% in the first test) with Inverse Square attenuation and GC enabled at 2.20. For the Render Settings, I moved the Auto Settings slider to the line marked Final, switched to Manual settings, clicked Acquire from Auto, and manually ramped the IDL quality up to 40 (the first test was at 7).
Quote - that is rather pretty though. lol rather a magical effect.
Mmm... yes... a shame it's not what I want.

Luxrender is an independent, open-source render engine designed to work with any number of programs which have plug-ins, or "bridge" as they're often called, written to connect them to it. Plug-ins do not come with Luxrender. They must be downloaded and installed separately as part of your program's core functionality.
For example, Blender has a plug-in called LuxBlend. The one you mentioned, Pose2Lux, was written for Poser, and is a free alternative to Reality, though it lacks many of Reality's features.
Reality was developed three years ago, originally as an exlusive plug-in for DAZ Studio. Reality 3 is the first and only commercially available version written specifically with Poser in mind, and is not part of Luxrender. Nowhere in the Reality User Guide or any YouTube video is there any suggestion or implication to the contrary.
I clicked on the Poser icon on Luxrender's web site. It clearly lists Reality as an optional plug-in for Poser in addition to Pose2Lux, and includes the direct link to the Reality 3 page at Pret-a-3D.
The latest version of Lux is 1.2.1. That's the one you want regardless of which program you're going to use it with.

Well done.
You should also know there is currently a bug that creates duplicates of materials in Reality's Material Editor, and causes most of the content to disappear in Lux if you save your progress in Poser while Reality is still open. Be sure to close Reality before saving your scene file until a patch is released.
You can read more about it here.

Excellent. Thank you.
Thread: Script to Set All Material Quality to Crisp? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Oh, you said automatic.. Sorry won't do it automatically. Please ignore me.
By automatic, I meant it will adjust every material setting at once after I tell it to, so this will be perfect.
Thanks again.

Beautiful. Problem solved. :)
So, as a general rule, unless otherwise mentioned by content documentation, should Python scripts always be put in the main Poser Runtime?
