There are some really nice characters for SP3 at Art Collaborations site and she also takes V3 textures.

Agreed for sure as long as you're using Poser not DS   :D

My advice would be to forget the hair room etc for now, there are lots of free prop and figure hairs that you can use and dynamic hair imo would be the last thing you'd need to learn. 

From my experience, the things that made a difference to me are:

1. learning about all the settings in the render options, what they do and how they affect your finished work
2. camera settings 
3. lighting
4. lighting
5. lighting
6. ... you get the idea =P

If you have some dynamic clothes, the cloth room is fun to play around in too and isn't too hard to get to grips with.

After all that / simultaneously learn the photoediting program of your choice - photoshop or whatever. I think there is at least one freebie one out there that people use - Gimp??

Then think about other programs.

When I first got a computer I got obsessed with Lands of Lore, but it was dos based so when I got that new fangled windows thing I couldn't finish it! I did get the next couple of games in the series but they didn't hook me the same. Then came Everquest...

I used Tabala's fuzzy fur from here on that jacket and had a pretty successful resemblance to a fleecey sweater which I would wear in Scotland.

Well considering the amount of time I spent adding all the morphs and jcms compared to the number of them that sold, it was a big waste of my time. I can say I learned alot from modeling these though:)

I rememer reading a solution which kind of worked for me - I still get the message from time to time and have to layer in photoshop, but here it is..

Go to Start > settings > control panel > Systems (advanced) > Performance (advanced) and you see the virtual memory setting at the bottom > hit change and set it to the max allowed.
