Well, like with any kind of production, I need some kind of script to work with. Any actor is going to want to "know" his character somewhat. I can say "We gotta get outta here!" Probably close to 100 different ways depending on the situation, and the character. The Tough guy, is going to be saying it with a subtext that says without words... "I'm going to fight every inch of the way until we ARE out of here." The weasly corprate guy will say it meaning "*I* have to get out of here, and if I have to feed you all to the bad thing to save my ass... I'm ok with what." Just look at the difference it can make if it's a question or statement. Accent one word more than the others and the meaning changes again. "WE gotta get outta here!" (All of us.) "We GOTTA get outta here!" (Or no one will be able to warn the good guys) "We gotta GET outta here!" (Which means we have to figure out how to do it first!) "We gotta get OUTTA here!" (Trying to stay locked in here is a bad idea!) "We gotta get outta HERE!" (We can all go to the next room.) This is what directing is all about in a dramatical sence. Guiding your performer to get the performance you want. Then there are the technical issues. If you're mixing dialouge from to people recorded at different loacation, there are bound to be issues. There's always "room tone" the subtle back ground noise that you don't "hear" until you record something and try to edit it. No one has the same silence. 2 Different microphones can sound different even if they are from the same manufacturer and the same model number. Sound cards will intoduce their own audio irregularites. How many Kilohertz do you want the sample recorded at. Do you want MP3's or WAV files. What's the max file size they should be? I can record a bunch of stuff on the condesor mike on my PDA. It will sound like it's from a telephone, but hey... you'll have it. I can use my headset mike plugged into my computer. That will be better quality. What program will we use to record? Just for laughs and demonstrations purposes, I did a quick recording of several versions of "We gotta get outta here!"

So instead of justting setting the nudity flag after the fact, they deleted the images? In what world does THAT make sence. When the hell is R'osity going to give us an edit fuction for these forums?

Actually, I think it's rude and childish to HAVE nudity flags in the first place. I would love to set all my messages to have them check by default because I don't want any one who decides to look at a message based on those createria to look at my work.

Damn people!!! We're talking about Free Stuff and tutorials. Even if you have a valid complaint it should be kept civil. No matter why any one is sharing anything, it's still a nice thing. The first thought out of all our mouths should be "thank you". No. I don't like all the reposts either, but what I dislike a whole hell of a lot less is the tone people are throwing around. We should be able to critisize one another without resorting to being hurtful.

Well the point of my post was that a better search catagory info would make for less of a need to repost. You can't really fault anyone who gives something away for free (even if they are trying to tell you how you can use it in your personal artwork.) To be honest. I'm a little tired of seeing the red texture for Koz hair too. But hey... Bt is giving it away for free, and if reposting it isn't actually breaking any rules I say it's none of my frelling biznit.

I always thought FREE STUFF should work like the Market Place, with multiple previews a description of the item and what's in the download, user comments on quality, and a trackable history of when you downloaded it. A user should only be allowed to Download an item 3 times. After that they need the contributors permision to download. That way people will have less bandwidth killed. There should be much better topic searching both in MP and Freestuff. It shouldn't be that hard to modify the MP code to work for Free Stuff. The only changes are to allow linking to outside sites vs. sites with in Renderosity, and removing the cost and payment options. Some other cool ideas... how about some rewards for frequent free stuff contibutors. Like 1000 downloads gets the contributor a R'osity gift cetificate for $10. It's not much, but a little something extra for sharing here as opposed to just on your own web site. Some clear inications of weather a free stuff offering is an actual file or a link to another site I have to search through. Basically a different button if the link ends in .htm than if it ends in .zip, .rar, .sit or .exe. This would all make my R'osity experience nicer.

Hey... I got a nice one. While we're updating the system... how bout a history file in our R'osity account. If you download something once it would tell you, no need to DL it again. Save bandwidth the hosts end. Drive space on the users end if he lost the file. I would also like to see more of a description, and preview renders. I mean... since you're changing things anyway why not make them a WHOLE LOT better? Might go a long way toward calming the disgruntled too. There would be an obviouse benefit tot he changes as well as the minor drawback of a wait. The free stuff should work almost the same as the marketplace, but with all links being external.

It's mammalian nature. Men are territorial, and women are territory. I know that's not the "popular" view or anything that any one wants to hear in this enlightened age of total denial. But the fact is that over 2 million years of evolution has made that the law of jungle. Most of our societal ills come from us fighting our nature instead of channeling it. The objectified art is just a reflection of what we want, and we want it because there is no healthy normal direction for us to channel our desires. Some how we got locked into artificial behavior like monogamy. Add in the ever changing aesthetic of society and our new age of technological separation ... you're just asking for problems. You can't tame an animal that you're pretending doesn't exist.

JPG is a lossy format... but it's far from cheesy. A high quality JPEG is still much smaller than any competing format for delivery of things like textures for Poser. The only problem is preservin the transparancy of layers somehow.
