"I didn't make myself clear. I was talking about quite a bit of the clothing textures." You're still not making yourself clear. Does 'quite a bit' mean 95%? 50%? 5%? One texturer? or many? or all of them? How many of the thousands of products have you purchased to compare to? Brokered textures? DAZ originals?
Thread: PoserPros memberships screwed up? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use IE and this is what works for me. If there are characters in the username field, I know it won't work. I close IE completely. Open IE and try again. Now it works. Yes, it has to do with whether you've been DAZ since your last visit, but I don't want to have to worry about that. So if it doesn't work at PPros, I just close my browser and start again.

More than one svchost running is not necessarily a problem. If you run adaware, etc., and it finds nothing I wouldn't worry about that. Is your Poser library panel open or closed? Are you running XP? If so I suggest getting the latest releases. I had the problem under Win98 and XP. Now with Svc Pack 2 the problem is gone. Other than that, I don't know what to say.

This is a real problem. It wasn't fixed until a service pack in Poser 5. I have propack and my processor runs at 99% BUT it's only when the libraries panel is open. If you're not selecting poses and stuff, just close the panel and always be sure it's closed if you minimize or render.
Thread: Poser 4 and Propak or Poser 5 ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't think there's any reason to be so dismissive of DAZ. Remember two years ago you all HATED Poser 5 and there was the real fear that Poser would go under. So just because Poser 5's bugs have mostly been finally fixed is no reason to forget the context of times past and the reason for DAZ studio...which I actually like and can't wait til ITS bugs are fixed. :) Meanwhile I have no compelling reason to re-install Poser 5 and am quite happy with P4/ProPack. (I don't care about Firefly or the dynamic stuff) If you tell me Poser 5 is faster than ProPack and uses less memory then I might bite again. Until then I'll stick with the ProPack/DS/Bryce connection.
Thread: Your Choices in the Marketplace will be censored by PayPal | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You may not like this but a banking company has a right to set any policy it wishes. That's free speech.
But Renderosity ALSO has that right.
So Renderosity should exercise its own free speech rights by dropping Paypal and using someone else.
Free markets AND free speech.
That's how America works.

Thread: How do I link D|S to my Poser folders? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
"I just don't see it as such an issue that Studio doesn't support it." Your opinion. I can't even USE it because all my runtime is compressed (P4/propack). And it is NOT a simple process to uncompress these files. It takes a few steps using winzip etc.

(1)There's nothing wrong with having a discussion like this because there are problems with the way it currently works. The labels under the thumbs are useless if they don't represent the actual wishes of the 'provider'. If one has to download everything to find out if the label was correct, then DISPENSE WITH THE LABELS. (2)There are many reasons for providing a 'free' download and not all of them are altruistic (3)There are many reasons to download a 'freebie' and not all of them are selfish. (4)Many current hobbyists have commercial renders in their future. (5)Commercial use only rarely involves a lot of money and downloaders are not going to get rich off of the providers' efforts. (6)Cultural reasons for restricting use are only reasons, not a cause celeb. Individuals can and have changed their stance. Assumptions we can make: (1)Repackaging or adapting the 'freebie' into another product, whether commercial or free, is almost always disallowed. Exceptions are public domain and Merchant resources. (2)Commercial images may include but are not limited to display at commercial sites, images for hire, contest entries, Cafepress type offerings. (3)All freebies may be used in personal non-commercial work. Unless the actual readme is available for perusal I suggest that Renderosity state on each page that (1)Unless specifically noted in the individual license, all repackaging or use of downloads or their derivatives for redistribution is forbidden. (2)All downloads may be used in personal work The label under the thumbnail should read either (a)Non-commercial ONLY or (b)Use in commercial IMAGES allowed
Thread: Change To Gallery Uploads & The New "Gallery Plus" | Forum: Community Center
Huh? I don't upload even 7 images a week. It's just that when I DO upload, which isn't all that often, I may upload 2 or 3 at once. I was only uploading about 12 a MONTH.

Huh? DAZ Victoria, DAZ Victoria 2, DAZ Michael 3 Well, if someone insists: DAZ Victoria, DAZ Victoria II, DAZ Stephanie II, etc. you know, like King Henry VIII, etc.
Thread: Change To Gallery Uploads & The New "Gallery Plus" | Forum: Community Center
Well, for all you folks that think one can't complete three images in a day, yer wrong. I often work on several scenes at once. I choose which ones I'm satisfied enough with to upload here then sign and jpg them and upload. Doesn't mean I'd upload 3 per day 7 days a week. I'm not screaming for the limit to be reinstituted. It's merely an inconvenience. I'm certainly not going to pay to upload more than one a day. That's nuts. But I'm not sure this new policy will have the effect planned. I think there are actually VERY FEW who upload 3 images a day 7 days a week.

Spanki..yeah I install to a temp folder. The installation process for me is so painful now. I use ProPack. Anything to make this easier would help. _Install to temp folder (daz stuff too) _Hunt down the readme and glance at it _Set two copies of Explorer side by side, one to my temp directory and one open to poser/runtime _Drag Geometries to poser/runtime _Search in textures to be sure there are no .bum files. _If there are .bum files right-click and sendto photopaint and convert to jpg _Drag Textures to textures _Open P3DO Explorer and go through each library folder and tell P3DO to convert rsr to png _when that's done use Explorer's search to find all leftover .rsr and delete them _run Correct Reference on every item in temp libraries _fix any problems CR finds _Go through each folder and figure out where I want it in my runtime/libraries _rename folders to my convention _if files can be merged into existing folders, be sure there are no name clashes and rename files as necessary _use a renamer program to rename extensions where necessary _move folders into my runtime/libraries _pray I did everything right and didn't forget anything. -------------- The biggest problems I have are: _.obj files not in geometries. I have to create a directory in Geometries for the object and load the cr2 or pp2 into a text editor to change the reference by hand. _missing or misspelled texture names (this includes textures the vendor didn't put in runtime/textures). Slows CR to a crawl. Takes sleuthing to correct. I suggest every vendor run Correct Reference on their own files first. _duplicate texture names. Won't be spotted until it's too late. AND THESE HAVE TO BE FIXED BY HAND. Please NO GENERIC NAMES FOR TEXTURES. (there, that feels better) _readme files buried deep in nested folders. BTW, I found a good dozen readme folders. Readme, Readmes, Read me in various locations Poser, poser/runtime, poser/readme, poser/runtime/readme/read me. I finally gave up and just delete 'em after I glance at 'em. -------------- Naming Texture folders. I think it's best if the runtime/texture/folder is the name of the vendor. I have a few reasons for suggesting that actually. But I'm tired of typing already. LOL

Wow..that's a lot of duties! I know very well how things one doesn't expect end up taking all our time no matter how much we desire otherwise. Thanks for all your work in the Poser forum while you were a mod here!

Thread: Should we be suspious? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That question really annoys me. :( I was posting in here for a LONG LONG time before I had a page or gallery. I've had my own site for 7 or 8 years, and belong to several mailing lists and have probably been using Poser for longer than most people here, and even taught it. Yet I chose not to have a gallery here until just recently. Like, so what?
