While working for a simple fix I found that by using a magnet on the thigh it should work for most purposes. Typically a thigh will flatten or widen when the leg flexes significantly, this magnet tries to create that effect.
After creating a magnet on the right thigh it was edited to have the following settings:

The numbers that matter are the ones after spline for each entry. So the magnet base scale is 0.1537 and so on. These values are in Poser native units. If you have Poser setup for inches multiply the translations by 103.09 or switch to Poser native units while you enter the values.
For the other thigh the magnet would have the same values except that the x translations are mirrored.
I wish I could save the magnet but Poser 6 does not save magnets properly.
Anyone is free to improve on this and repost the new settings.

I believe it is limited to version 5.Although it does not read Lightwave scenes (LWS) you can try PoseRay for newer LWO meshes. It uses the current object file format specification from Newtek.

You can try PoseRay. It uses smooth Loop subdivision keeping the UV mapping. See the gallery on the site for a simple example.good luck,

Download the 3ds Max 30 day trial and use that to convert. You can request the 3ds Max trial download from the provided link. This is a full working trial version.Although the MAX format can contain polygon meshes it usually describes scene elements by using modifiers on basic shapes. This makes a converter self defeating since it would be doing most of the work that 3ds Max does on restoring the scene. The files that PoseRay can read are from the older version of 3ds that contained meshes only.
I know of one full MAX converter and it needs 3dsmax to be installed to use its libraries.

Try PoseRay. It can import 3DS and Lightwave 5, 6 and later versions. It converts geometry, UV and most material information. After reading the model with PoseRay then you can export as Wavefront and import into Poser.If you have any problems just let me know.

Make sure that the seams are welded when exporting to Poser 6. If that does not work then in PoseRay go to the geometry tab and click on "weld vertices". Increase the smoothing threshold to about 65 if you have any objects with sharp corners (or make it 180 for organic shapes) and click on update. That should fix this problem. Let me know if that does not work.
