Yeah I have seen it too with clothing items that have been around for ages popping in the whats new section every now and then..

I use Terradome mainly due to the fact I don't have the sort of money for Vue though would like to get it though if I did no idea what version would be good for me at a good price..

I do have Carrarra 8 Pro when it went cheap and I do have Bryce but that be it..

The funny thing is so to speak is that while dson is a pain it works better in Poser 9/PP2012 since in a sense it was written for P9/PP2012 and not really for Poser 10 / PP2014 as we all know how dog slow it is at least for me.. 

My thinking is as mentioned that since there was no SubD in P9/PP2012..  But why it should take longer to do anything in P10/PP2014 who knows. All I do know is it is very annoying all the same.

Yeah but it doesn't retain them. DAZ's lack of documentation is their biggest problem. Most people don't have the time or inclination to do trial and error or wait for someone to answer the same question they've answered 40 times over on the forums.

I'm primarily a Genesis user, my friend got me into DS. Both of us think that Gen 2 is a backwards step.  Gen 1 hasn't been around anywhere long enough to be releasing a new figure. The enhancements aren't that great anyway and could have been added as an update to existing figures in my non-technie opinion. Maybe a technie person can say they couldn't but to me it doesn't look like that big of a deal.

In addition to ticking off the Poser crowd, Daz has now managed to annoy and split the Genesis users. If all new Daz content is Gen 2 focused you've got to wonder if the customer base will be large enough for Daz's bottom line.

I also read somewhere on one of the forums someone was suspect of Daz and their content and whether they would have to repurchase content for G2/V6 that they already had for G1/V5..  Lo and behold about a day or so from the release of G2/V6 there are now G2/V6 versions of content that came out originally for G1/V5.

I use Poser more for rendering and what not and DS for making poses I never got heavily into DS I find that I just can't get it do things that I can do in Poser far more easily.

Now, when did Genesis 1 first come out?

Okay, I need to keep watching a roast in the oven, so I can't find the exact date. But I found refs to it in May 2011.

It's an Emperor's New Clothes kind of thing, IMHO. Two full years, and there's very little Genesis content that's free out there with a simple casual search. Unbelievable loads of stuff for V4 (and M4, too.)

Guess what a lot of end users are thinking..."Wow, the economy's bad. I want things that are free! Yay! Look at everything for V4!"

Now, I'm a research kind of person, and one thing I've been trying to find for awhile is any actual sales figure for Genesis. I can't find one scrap of information anywhere. I haven't seen anyone else come up with actual, solid facts and figures, and I have looked. That says something to me. There is no transparency, and maybe there's a reason.

So I don't know the whole story, and I don't know if anybody else does either. But this is a bunch of facts that can be put together. And coming out with a new second-gen figure, complete with lots of stuff that will need to be bought and not immediately compatible with the old free stuff without fiddling around, does not seem like a smart business decision to me. A lot of people have already been antagonized by the whole thing. So between the two, I would bet on Dawn being far more successful.

SmithMicro is on NASDAQ, and Daz is not, being a privately held company. Now, there are a lot of reasons why a company might not have gone public, but it means that they aren't required to release financial statements. I've been an investor for a long time (a small one...), and I am very leery of private companies. There's usually a good reason why they haven't made stock available as a public offering. This may be good, bad or neutral... but one day, people may look back on this and... okay. I'm not going to say anything else. Just an FYI...

Makes ya wonder and another thing when Daz Studio 4 Pro was first released it cost about $600 then a few months later it went free for what they said was for a short period time.  Well as we all know now it is still free you have to wonder why, and probably they knew they would make it back on the selling of content, but it does make you think.

I think I am going to do the same just loaded Genesis 2 into PP2014 and it loaded but forget using Genesis clothing on G2 didn't want to play nice same with Genesis hair though in that case some would work while others didn't..

So staying with V4 and on the rare occasion Genesis 1..

Yeah gotta love the the extra they put on top of the original cost of the product, I downloaded mine and even after I worked out approximately the exchange rate what I had gotten from the currency exchange site Xe.com (have been correct in the past) and what I got charged  when I went through fastspring were completely different, so I am putting it down to some form of handling fee..

 Mmm not sure then if following the instructions in the zip file and still not showing might have to contact Semidieu the creator see what could be up with it..   Could be something as simple as the runtime folder being copied into the runtime folder, I know that I have done stuff like that many times..

Other than that not sure what I can suggest as at a loss myself why it is not working for you..

The version of Library Manager from RDNA will have it's own listing in the scripts menu.  It should show up as Shaderworks in the drop down menu, with Library Manager in the sub menu..

Yes it can also show up in the Window Addons sub menu, but if you copied the runtime folder from the Shaderworks Library Manager zip file and put it into where the Poser 9 runtime is it will be in both the Window and Scripts menus.

You will have to turn on hidden files and folders by going to your system drive in explorer and then under the Organize Tab click on Folder and Search Options to bring it up then click on the view tab and click the Show hidden files, folders or drives radio button click apply then ok.

Back in explorer go to Users folder then the name you used for your system folder **(ie: when you first installed Windows it asked for a name and if you wrote something like Joe Blogs then look for a folder under Users called Joe Blogs). ** 

Open that fokder and you should now see a folder called AppData go there and open it you will then see four or so folders the one you want is **Roaming **open that one, once there scroll down and you should see either one or two Poser folders this is where Poser keeps it's settings and what not back up just in case then delete the folder/s.

If this does not help then not sure what else it could be but hopefully it does, best of luck. :)

I installed the new program like I was supposed to- and it did not work. I copied my runtime to my external drive and then removed every Poser file I could find from my hardrive exept the 2014 install files. One thing it could be depending on what version of Windows if you are using Windows.   If you removed all the Poser files I gather you removed the Poser settings  folders from the hidden appdata folder?

I am using Windows 7 and there are a few Poser settings folders hiding in there, but really should not make a difference I have Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2012 still on my system and Poser Pro 2014 installed with no problem..

So it might be something that you did by accident that must have mucked up something on your system and thus making Poser Pro 2014 behave like it is.. 

Those two sets pictures make it hard to tell. I am more interested in render times and that I get a good quality render at the end of it and well Pro 2014 is so much better..

I do like that Pro 2014 renders faster even with an AO of 3 and Shadow Blur Radius of 10 and Shadow Samples of 30 and picture size of 1830x1232x300pix.  I am loving Pro 2014 my render times are so much better than what I was getting in Pro 2012..

Yes I am seeing a marked improvement, IDL seems faster too though seems to still suffer the old glow problem.
