There are lots of great fractal programs out there. I use Vchira, Dust Fractals and Apophysis, for most of my work. Vicky (my wife) uses Chaoscope, Apophysis and Mind Boggeling Fractals for most of her work. All I can say is try one until you find one that clicks for you. I mean what use is a fantastic program if you can't figure out how to use it or your just not comfortable with it? Look farther back in the forum and there are links mentioned to several good sites for freeware ( my favorite kind). William/paragon5

I have a program called "A Smaller Image" that does my thumbnails. I use just enough compression to get under Renderosity's limit ( just as Rick said). William

Hi Scott, first off, thanks for creating the flames we all know and love. As far as programs, we use Apophysis and Dust Fractals for flames. I tried the QS-Flame, but it just didn't suit me as well as these two programs. William

We use a lot of different fractal programs, all of which are freeware. I play with a program a while, if I like it, I keep it. If not, I go on to the next one. My favorite program is Vchira and it is available from: http://www.eclectasy.com/Iterations-et-Flarium24/ There are several great fractal programs on that site. You might want to check out Paul N. Lee's website, alot of great stuff there also. For flame fractals, I don't think anything beats Apophysis. Just go to the Apophysis website and download a free copy. Have fun! William

Thanks Luc2, I downloaded it today! It started in English, so I didn't have to do any registry work. It does some very nice fractals. Just what I need, something else to take up my time!:) William

Linda, this saddens me very much! But I do understand! I have also been bothered by these banners! I try to ignore them as much as possible! I feel you offer so many things to Renderosity as well as all of the friendships you have! We really wish you would reconsider your decision! There are so many people that need to know how much God loves them especially on this site! You are one of those people who could get the point across, sometimes better than anyone else! If you should still decide to not be part of Renderosity, I will always respect you and your choice! You must know this site will NEVER be the same without you! Not only do I LOVE your images, but I also have grown to love you very much as my "Grandma"! Please reconsider. Love, Vicky

Well, I'm not exactly the person to answer that question. A fractal is a graphical representation of a mathmetical formula. That is a broad defination. A fractal replicates itself over and over. Don't worry about the math, you'll pick that up as you go along. Most people don't understand the math behind fractals anyway. One example that really made me realize the magnitude of the fractals, was when I read that a mandelbrot of about 400 x 400 pixels, after 16 zooms would be large enough to reach from Earth to Jupiter! We also use FV and have never seen any tuts on it. Just keep experimenting with it and youll eventually get the hang of it. If not try a different program. Some people work better with certain programs than do other people. You might want to check out Stephen Fergusen's page, there are some great free programs there!

To abmlober: 1.My belief is, a Christian is supposed to be living a "Holy" life. That doesn't include nudity or porn! 2. Fractals are Mathematical equations, right? What has that got to do with nudity? I went to dreampaints gallery, since July 1, 2003,certainly there was some mild nudity, but here's the kicker, none of them were posted in the fractal gallery! They were posted in different galleries! 3. It's not up for me to decide whether nudity in fractals is wrong or right, I'm just voicing my opinion and I'm probably in the minority now anyway. But that's alright! It's not even for me to say nudity or porn is wrong for you or any of the others, that's between you and God and them and God. For me and William it is wrong! Everyone has the freedom of speech and a right to their opinions, you have yours and I have mine! And that's the way I'm leaving it! I'm not bashing anyone, I hope you understand my point. Vicky

Lisa must have had something religious in mind or she wouldn't have labeled the image fractal/religious spiritual. I personally was offended. I feel a posting like this one, is not appropriate for the fractal gallery. I feel nudity of any kind or partial nudity, shouldn't be in the fractals. They have galleries in R'osity for that kind of image. I am a Christian and I believe in standing up for what is right! If I said anything to hurt Lisa's feelings, I'm truly sorry. But I am not sorry for feeling this image should have been put in a different gallery. Vicky
