Ok, I had something very Wonky just happen. I got a message in bold red letters that I had 120 Instant Messages Waiting to be Read. First thing I thought was Holy Moly who could be sending me THAT many messages. I clicked view messages and it said that one IM had been received by the same person 120 times. How the Heck DID that HAppen??? Now I am thinking what do I do NOW?? I closed my the Renderosity Site and when I came back on everything was cleared. Did the system just have a hic up? I am afraid to contact the person who received my multi IM's, as they will think ... heck who knows WHAT They will think, nothing good I am sure :( AHHhhhh its Monday, and I thought Sunday was my day from hell hehe. Odd thoughts filled Spike's mind as he dashed down the hall. "Man, am I glad I wore my dark brown loafers..."
Thread: Workshop experience? | Forum: Writers
Each workshop is different. In most instances you get out of them what you put into them. Keep in mind, as a rule, workshops are not cheap. Do your homework. If they have guest speakers, look them up on the Internet. See if they can give you a list of names of people who have taken the workshop before and query them about their experience. Make sure the workshop is geared toward your writing genre. It would be a total waste of time and money if you were only interested in Sci Fi writing and the workshop was all about How To Get Your Romance Novel Published. Which brings up another point. What kind of writing are you interested in; novels, short stories, fiction, nonfiction, poetry? Is the workshop online, mail order, in person? If in person, how far do you have to travel? If the workshop lasts for several days, does the cost of the workshop include overnight accommodations? If not is there somewhere reasonable nearby to stay. Make sure you figure food, lodging, and transportation into the cost. Did you know that the Dragon*Con/Renderosity Convention is holding a writer's workshop? Something you might want to look into. Just some ideas to ponder :) Dee-Marie (ladynimue)
Thread: The 'Hammer' needs advice | Forum: Writers
Hi Hammer, As both an artist and a writer (working on my first novel), I can understand where you are coming from. There is such a fine line between stroking someone's ego and crushing it. The most important advice I can give you is to be tactful. Do not attack the article. Instead stress a good point and follow it by something you think they could change. Again, be tactful. Always remember that your opinion is just that Your Opinion. If you edit with an All Knowing Attitude you will find the author of the article you are critiquing with his defenses up. Try this; before you send off a critique read it out-loud to yourself. Read your critique as if someone had written it about your writing. How did it sound? Was it soft, harsh, helpful? Try to make positive suggestive statements. I liked {this part} of your story, however when I got to {this section} I became confused because suddenly one character disappeared and left me wondering what happened, if anything, to him. Do you think you could clear that section up? Compared to Your article needs a ton of work, I could not make any sense out of anything in chapter 8. You should try rewriting the whole story. I give you a ton of credit for asking for help. One last thought, remember when a person writes they are exposing their soul. Best to nurture, not crush! Artistic Souls are both rare and precious. Just some food for thought :) Dee-Marie (ladynimue)

Hope you enjoy my take on your beautiful magical cottage. Being me, I had to tweak the texture just slightly on the roof and walls :) Also the forest is a photograph I took this weekend from my backyard. Thank you once more for your generosity and talent. (reposted this message as I just uploaded the image to my gallery and tweaked it ever so slighting) ladynimueThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
