On another note... I see images posted all the time to this gallery that are just as much mixed media as this one was... If you are going to appoint yourself as a judge of what is acceptable and what isn't, then you need to go through the WHOLE gallery. Moving any image that doesn't belong here to the gallery that you think it should be in. The image contained a fractal and has the right to be in this gallery. I think it should be moved back in here! Matt.

Intentional practices that affect the normal operations of the community? Sounds like a get out clause to me... Correct me if i'm wrong, but... The "normal operation of the community" is for people to vote for images they like and if it gets enough votes then it gets into the Hot 20. Isn't that exactly what happened here? Where is the TOS violation? Even if one person voted 28 times using multiple accounts I don't see where this is a violation of TOS. If this person likes the image so much that they are willing to do that then who are you and I to tell them that they are wrong? If Renderosity has a problem with people doing this then they should find a way to stop it. Not persecute people that do it... Matt.

No thanks, I'll pass. I already have over 40 accounts after getting those 2 images into the Hot 20 ;O)

Even if only one person voted for it then it still deserves to be there. There isn't anything in the TOS that says a person can't vote for an image they like, as many times as they like. It may not be fair...but as far as I can see it is perfectly legal!

Why has this image now been removed from the Hot 20? I've read the TOS and can't see where this made a single violation... As far as i'm aware the only requirement for being in the Hot 20 is that you get enough votes...This image had enough votes so it obviously deserved to be there. I would like an explanation of why an image that doesn't violate the TOS should be removed from it's rightful place in the Hot 20? If it was just removed because some people "don't like it" then it should be put back, ASAP! Matt.
Thread: Fractal "masterpieces" | Forum: Fractals
It can mean either...An outstanding work of art or craft, or an artist's greatest work. If you look at it from the latter viewpoint then just about everyone has created a masterpiece...I tend to look at it from the former viewpoint. Of course i'm naturally cynical and think 'masterpiece' is just another superlative used by cliquers in their endless self-promotion campaign :O) Personally, I hope it carry's on because it's always good for a laugh. Matt.
Thread: Any tips for Apo image focus? | Forum: Fractals
Hard to say without seeing the image... If it is a bilateral flame then the symmetry transform is probably slightly out of line. If it isn't then try adjusting the transforms which are just using the Linear variation slightly.

One more thing to think about if you're going down this road, not all members have English as their native language. Today I made a suggestion on someones image and they didn't understand what I meant. The person gave me permission to adapt their image with my changes and e-mail it to them so that they could see what I was talking about. Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. Matt. P.S. I'm right behind you on this Keith although i'm limiting myself at the moment to 3 comments a day, I try to make at least 1 of them worth something.

Regarding point 2...I do, I always have and I always will. If I was creating art for other people then I would still be making the stuff I was doing a year ago. It was a lot more popular (still is) than the things I do now... Just because I choose to post what I make on the internet doesn't mean I am making it for anyone else...It just means i'm willing to let people SEE what I made for myself. Matt.

Did someone mention my name?!? I aint getting involved...I've been sent to coventry and i'm blissfully happy thanks to the chill pill I popped. I'm off to make some psychedelic flames... Matt.

Just do small movements when adjusting the triangles...I normally undo and try again if it goes dusty. I also always set the gamma to the lowest setting before working on a flame to minimize the dust.

Ok...I posted a very basic tutorial a week or so ago for Apophysis v1 which can be used for version 2 also, check the link above. You can also change the transforms (triangles) that are created in a random flame to suit your needs more. In the editor in Apophysis (the thing where you move the triangles around) you will see some tabs on the right. Click on the variations tab and it gives the settings for the present highlighted triangle. You will see a list of the different variations used in that triangle. All the values have to add up to 1. So if you type 1 in the box next to Linear then that triangle will only use the Linear variation. You can have any combination of variations you like on each triangle...Just remember they have to add up to a total of 1. In my experience dropping the filter density won't necessarily mean less background noise on a flame, it can sometimes make it worse. You are making the dots sharper so they show up more. Try raiseing the filter radius slightly to 0.5 or 0.7. This will mean less detail in the flame itself but it should also help blur the noise into the background more. Failing this, there isn't a lot more you can do, sometimes you just get bad flames that won't behave as you want them to. Matt.Thread: Ok this late nite owl person is opening chat. | Forum: Fractals

Just read your second comment on my image, Harmen, LOL. Breaking another tradition of not writing thank you notes...Thanks, Harmen.
