I've found that ANY clothing item can be made to work with tailor, you might just have to play around to fix the problem. All problems I have encountered (I believe on the UD grecian dresses from DAZ) required me to make a copy of the cr2, and use Morph Manager to strip out all of the morphs. Apparently one of them had something different than Tailor expected. Anyway, once tailor produces the morph for your character, you can use Morph Manager to copy the new morph over to the real version of the item. Tailor has some great uses, and some limitations as well (some items simply don't have much geometry to allow big changes to retain their shape, but that's hardly the tailor's fault) I like it, and use it often enough to consider it worth the money. The best part about her, is that there are some very attractive faces in the head morph pak, without any tweaking. Blending them is even better (lots of variety, but more realistic than before) Eric

Thanks Anton. I think everyone here would agree, keep the renders coming, regardless of their focus! (But do hurry up and let 'er loose!) eric

Anton, you mentioned propack as being compatible with MOR Injection (or whatever it was called). Poser 4 vanilla works as well, correct? Eric

You can download a real java virtual Machine at java.sun.com. Sun's java lacks only a few features (like the ability for a rogue web site to access com features in critical systems) It is the real java interpreter, so it should do everything that the MS one did, and more. Eric
Thread: ARGH! | Forum: Vue
Hm. I'm running 4.11, on a machine with XP home and I've not encountered that (I think it worked on my other machine, windows 2000 on a much slower processor before this new one came ... Yay) I was having Open GL problems, due to a flawed MS Updated driver (went to vender web site and got a partially new one (had to tell windows to replace a few newer files) and now I am quite a bit happier (was frustrated to buy a machine mostly for vue, only to have to fall back to the non-GL interface) I'll tell you one thing, XP ain't quite what you might think by following the press. It's only moderately more stable than 98 and performs considerably worse than 2k (I'm guessing all of the silly bloat crap that I have yet to find out how to get rid of.) I was hoping to splurge on a mac, but alas, just couldn't afford anything that sounded good to me :( I really want to play with OS-X! eric
Thread: How do you resize Vicktoria clothing for the millenium girls? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Momcat, Jim Burton did do the adaptation, and I really like the update. Also, the tailor has some areas where it really does a great job. It doesn't do everything as you would hope (most of the cloth shape gets distorted if the change is too dramamtic, and everything starts looking like a second skin) eric (again)

I seem to remember seeing 74% show up some place. I'm sure there was a discussion back some time ago, but 'tis too late for me to go digging. The name shadowcat comes to mind, but that might have been for some other clothing reference. I think the tailor thing is somewhat wishful thinking since it doesn't do scaling. Also, the problem with morphing Vicky into the preschooler would be with the joint parameters (I would guess) because of those vastly different sized (and proportioned limbs), there probably wouldn't be a way to do it direclty using dials. However, using a pz2 file, it probably would be possible (no animation support, however) if you were really good. Of course, I could be wrong :) eric

If you use Mozilla, you can turn pop ups off at the preferences level. That has made the internet considerably better for me! eric

I suspect OS X can handle long filenames, since Unix has had the capability since it's inception (or at least for a very long time). It's file system uses something different in the index, allowing the name to simply be an attribute of the inode (and therefore independant of any table size restriction).

I keep all of my reciepts so I can do a search on the items name. When I find it, I just look for the filename listed on the reciept. I'm not sure if all of the reciepts (old one's) tell you what file you downloaded, since it seems they named them in a readable fashion at some point. For those, the date is good enough, since it tells me which CD to get out! After joining the platinum club, I started a spread sheet which has the order id, date, items name, filename and keep them all related pieces together. I was afraid I might forget that I had already bought something ( at the price for some of those items, it isn't quite as hard to make last minute purchases which could be forgotten later on) This might pay off later, since you have to have purchase numbers for certain upgrades (which can take forever to find, since my saved mail is kind of messy and quite extensive) eric

Thread: DAZ Mil Dragon Folks and Morphing Ponytail - questions. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In defense of DAZ, I suppose that there is more to the poses than simple dial settings (though I haven't bought them yet to say for certain). I have spent more time than I care to think about reducing wasteful cr2s into mor poses that assign the character morph data to a standard figure. It takes up much less room, and allows you to do some last minute switches, if you change your mind about who should be in which scene. By purchasing these sort of packages, I save a lot more time (which is becoming harder and harder to find) Even if they were didn't contain unique morph data for the figure, the clothing is probably worth the full price for some folks. As for the ponytail, there are poses I use, but I have the entire collection (before platinum....ugh). I'm not sure which package installed the poses. I would suggest all three packs if you haven't gotten them. There is a lot of variation between them all (though it will take time to figure them all out) eric
Thread: The Tailor and MIMIC: DAZ can we ever expect Poser 5 compatibility? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Regarding the current price, I would buy PPP for the price of P5(from P4), but with all the problems, I have no interest in P5 at any price. I would have bought it when they had the sale, but I was waiting for the release of P5......came really close though:( eric

c1rcle, I think sp1 addressed many security vulnerabilities (not completely certain since I don't run it, but I recieve all of their update alerts via email) If it won't run, you should probably contact them (hopefully for free, I doubt you caused it to fail, therefor you shouldn't have to pay) That said, if you are behind a firewall, and keep all the other internet apps updated (browser, mail reader, what ever) you might be better off leaving well enough alone:) As far as spying, I think you probably are just as visible to them without the SP. They've already had one judge slap their wrists for misleading end users about their privacy (passport), what's another small fine :) eric
