You know that´s a bad sign. :D
I´ll try that and see if it works better. Perhaps there´s a slight chance there´s a memory difference between versions. (wishful thinking here)
I think that´ll have to be yes on both your questions Sackrat. :)

Well, problems are meant to be solved. I´ll probably end up re-modeling most of it with Bryce booleans, even though it´s going to be a painful process. These will have to be made all over again........ :crying:

Uhmm i knew i should´ve kept my mouth shut...
I imported the original C4D model into Bryce and for the first time ever, i managed to bring up an "Out of memory" window when trying to save the setup.

Quote - I'm looking forward to Bryce 7 taking away some of my massive polycounts with Instancing.
Poor Maxwell. They really do have some crazy realistic renders in their gallery. memory management sounds fixable...eventually/hopefully.
Something to look forward to. :)
Maxwell is great for smaller scenes with few objects, and i love the output you get from the physical lighting. They just need to do something about the memory issues as well as the legendary disastrous workflow.

It´s not so much the speed in Maxwell, more a lousy memory management.
Actually, even C4D crawls with these, and i even bought more RAM for this project.

Well i see what the problem is. It´s the second preset file, which is only 504 kb here. :)
Just installed B6 and doing some testing. I´m thinking of remodelling parts of my Budapest project and render it in Bryce instead of Maxwell. This one is merely a test and not as accurate as the original model, but so far it´s promising.

I downloaded all of them although i see here that preset file 2 is awfully small.
You did put me on the right track though. I created a couple of new folders and got it to work. Although i don´t have any materials except the one i just added. :)
Think i´ll just move some folders from 5.5. That should do the trick.
Thanks guys.

Thread: So who is luvin their Bryce 6.0......? | Forum: Bryce
Quote - This is my first post in this forum, and it is rare for me to post here at rosity, due to fear of being banned (heard some horror stories of folks being banned for no good reason).
Welcome.
I think those were just stories. There have been some bannings, but that´s the last action taken by the mods here and there have also always been good reasons for a banning.
I don´t think you´ll find a friendlier bunch than the ladies & gentlemen hanging out here, including the moderators. :)

Actually, Bryce aint really that bad if we compare with the above, Maxwell.
Sure, you have full GI and physically based lighting in Maxwell, but interior scenes are ridiculously slow and the noise never really clears up.
It´s pretty much necessary to use image enhancement software to get acceptable results in an acceptable amount of time. And we´re talking screen resolution images here. The program still have a very hard time rendering out anything larger than A3, no matter how much RAM you put into the machine.
Take these two scenes for example, which took around 60 hours each to render, in this resolution. And they´re still not entirely noise free.

I wouldn´t bet on Maxwell i´m afraid. They´ve cancelled development on a lot of the initial plugs, including Bryce a long time ago.
But given the past and current health of the C4D plug and Next Limit as a company, perhaps you should be celebrating instead. ;)

So what´s the UI like on this release? Any drastic changes or the same comfortable one?

Congratulations to the release. Great to see that it really did got to see the light of day at last.
Think i might just give this one a go and freshen up some of the old skills. I´ll probably have to re-learn the darn thing now...

Actually, i´m not so sure about the "not getting anywhere from here" part. Based on personal experience, you can very well get noticed by editors, recruiters etc. But naturally, the more places you post, the better your chances get.
And although i agree with great art getting lost in the crowd, i think most of the larger communities/galleries suffer from the exact same thing. Nude characters generate more views regardless of where they´re posted. Unfortunatly. :glare:
