Adp001 says: "Nice offer - but..." ?????????????????? That's not positive and not helpful.
I think that I already addressed the driver issue. Try listening before you speak. You would appear even more intelligent.
Whether poser32 would run slower is not the point. One would have to try it to see what happens. Theories only go so far. My many years as a professional programmer have taught me that.
Maybe you haven't heard but poser pro will be 64 bit. Some of us are looking forward to that.
Of course your cheap peripherals might not work but we don't all buy cheap peripherals.
As I said, if there were a problem, you could no that on your xp32 partition.
There's nothing wrong with a free solution to check out what is the truth and what is someone's theory.
What's your real point?
You have managed to nullify my message for some but there are those who wish to explore 64 bit windows even if you disagree.
Why don't you start your "own" thread about the pros and cons of 64 vs 32 bit.
Or maybe: "Adp001 knows everything and no one else does" or "How everything sucks except linux".
Thread: poserpython- can it? 1. resize the preview window 2. import pz3's | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
changing the pz3 file sounds like a hot idea. i checked it out and it will work great.
best of all it is outside of what i was thinking about and points me in a new direction.
i like it a lot. your help has been like that. solves the problem at hand and opens up new possibilities.
i am not having any more kids and don't have any say on naming the grandkids but i will name my next computer after you.
i have the pieces already. it will have 2 dual-core brains to get ready for poser pro.
that sounds like you unless you wish to wait for the quad-core version.

i can see you're really in the christmas spirit. very nice picture. who is that girl, anyway?
i should have given a little more detail but my project isn't the normal poser project.
it started with making a program for my grandsons to combine 2-d images (like mr. potato head). it was cool at first but it was difficult finding good images. that's why i got into poser7. i started a collection of people, animals and various props. i just used the basic size that poser comes with and then learned to render rotations using python thanks to the help of you and others. the png's work well to combine. i batch trim off the blank space.
things kept progressing and then the kids wanted trucks and stuff that was too big for the preview window. i learned that i could manually enlarge the preview window and adjust the camera distance or use 'import' from the file menu to bring the pz3's into a new environment that is better suited for my needs.
OpenDocument retains the original settings. I can change the camera distance with python but SetOutputRes only changes the render size and not the preview window. This is according to my experiments and my experience is minimal. maybe i missed something.
it isn't practical to make the adjustments manually as i have hundreds of pz3's. also, it eliminates all the mistakes i make. i truly like automatic mode vs manual mode.
i am enclosing a clip that shows the result of processing a small pz3 into the size i want (1000x625) while maintaining the figure size. i can put more samples on a web page to show the before and after but i think it is obvious.
i have tried all sorts of things but just can't get the right combination. i am hoping there is a secret python command that i don't know about or maybe a better approach.
Thread: Quick Quotation Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
pretty cool... i searched for ockham logs on the forum
because i wanted to know a little more about him & what he does.
so, i even got a chance to read his blog.
i went back to google to try my hand at finding the quote.
the first page i pulled up was about picasso's work in collage,
i had never heard about that before. as a coincidence, the project
that brought me to poser is called collage.
i found a couple of places where "resistant medium" is used
and read lots of cool quotes i had never heard, but that's it.
not willing to give up yet, i decided to try french.
my french is rusty so i thought i'd try an online translator.
babel fish translated the phrase as:
"Il n'y a aucun grand art sans milieu résistant."
as a test, i converted that back to english & got:
"There is no great art without resistant medium." ok.
the strange part is that when
i fed it into a translator at Reverso.net, i got this:
"Il n'y a aucun grand art sans moyen résistant."
and then this:
"There is no big art without average Resistance fighter."
i hope this doesn't have anything to do with your dream about
the bomb and the lady in the rambler.

karen:
maybe i have a different google.
i searched for:
There is no great art without a resistant medium
and got the link i sent. the quote is on the page.

Thread: Can P7 be moved w/o new install? | Forum: Poser Technical
another possible way.....
i render on another machine from the one i use where i test & install new content.
i have poser installed on both machines.
to update the render machine, i rename the poser folder (just in case)
and then copy the entire poser directory to the render machine.
it takes a while over the network but it works & both machines are in always in sync.
Thread: can i determine the name of a standard pose with python? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
thanks for your response. it must be early morning where you live.
i thought what you said to be true but just wanted to know for sure.
i am new here at renderosity. in fact i have never been part of a forum before.
it seems pretty cool.
it has been difficult even getting started with poserpython.
you gave me some valuable information in the past about reversing poses. thank you.
i did research to understand the geometry of poser.
i gained valuable insight from the past discussions you have had on the subject.
that has helped me a lot and i have used that in my personal scripts.
i have visited your homepage. you seem very interesting.
i lived in france, but never visited the netherlands.
i live on bainbridge island across the water from seattle.
i have had several older houses and fixed them up & enjoy cats, also.
again, thank you.
Thread: CommServerLib, new version | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
you asked if i would provide the code for my component.
when it is complete, i will provide the component & a sample application.
the component can be embedded in any windows language; even html.
years ago i was on a unix system using c & wrote unix utilities for my group.
at the time there was little graphics capablity. much has been added.
i find the linus & python communities both very interesting.
Thread: CommServerLib, new version | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
CommServerLib is a very powerful tool. i am a recent convert to CommServerLib.
i wanted its power but it seemed overwhelming with all it makes possible.
i also wasn't familiar with telnet.
after you explained the protocol, i felt i could connect with it.
i like poser, but find the interface difficult to use. i know i am not the only one.
i wanted to use my own interface. i am into "easy" and power.
yesterday was a great adventure and made me a true believer. i am now a CommServerLibian.
i took a program i have that is a vb tcp client and made some adjustments.
within an hour, i was able to send commands and load content files to poser.
i usually auto render on my other machine. now i can control it from here.
from there, i made it into a software component for other applications.
my programs are hybrids of windows and web technology. power plus communication.
before the day was over i had a working component embedded in a prototype program.
many things can be done but i presently only know about a few of them.
from my own program, i can execute poser commands and load content & poser files.
the program is independent of poser and is a window above poser & never goes away.
now i will be able to locate content and display it in my own way.
this is the beginning. now "i" am in charge with little need to use the poser interface.
when i get further along, i will show it to the forum. screen movie maybe.
it's fun & makes me happy. however, i am a little jealous of your genius. ::)
Thread: problems with SelectActor and SelectFigure | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
wow. now we're talking. very good news for me.
being very new to both poser & python, i did not know about the inspect module.
i think it would be good to make a single forum thread about this.
i never even thought of such a thing. i've never had the need until i met poserpython.
the languages & objects i use in windows are extemely well documented with real
object models with a concise list of objects with properties, methods, events, etc.
and real working code samples. mostly i use the online MSDN library. although i
hand code everything, i use visual studio which also has most of the info i need.
when i put the name of an object in my code, a dropdown gives me everything.
this way, i spend most of my time implementing my design. (the fun part)
thanks once again. i am in your debt.
Thread: problems with SelectActor and SelectFigure | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
thank you adp001.
it does work in both cases.
i don't know how you know that.
maybe you could write some new documentation. i heard that you really enjoy doing that.
this experience gives me an insight for things to try when i have to resort to trial and error.
thanks again.
Thread: problems with SelectActor and SelectFigure | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
i have studied the PoserPython Methods.pdf a great deal.
is that what you mean? or is there some real & accurate documentation?
if so, i'd like to read it.
i copied this from the PoserPython Methods.pdf on page 43:
scene.SelectActor(“Left Forearm”)
scene.SelectFigure(“Figure 1”)
i will try using objects instead.
thanks for your interest & the suggestion.
Thread: Moving character with Python? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
you seem angry at those who listen to you and try to help.
i "did" read your first post and went to your website. it is very nice.
i tried a set of stairs in poser. nice work.
i asked you what you wished to accomplish as in your final goal.
i did not ask you to re-explain the technical issues.
i don't require anything of you, i was hoping to help you.
from what i understand, your purpose is to make poser props from your daz.
is that what you wish to accomplish?
that is something that people are already doing. ask them.
writing a python script is not an easy solution, if possible.
when i said i enjoyed your dialogue, that was meant as a compliment.
i offered to share what i learn with you.
you seemed to take offense at my responding to your question.
i promise not to offend you again. this is my last post to you.
