Well, you live and learn. I wasn't aware of any special coloring. In November, I will be ready. Thanks for the education.
Thread: a question that confuses me.... | Forum: Photography
I am not a professional, just a rank amateur. But, I am never at a loss for opinions. I would speculate a few reasons and zhounder gave you a very good. Another is competition; Once an assistant learns your client base and how you make your profits, then they are a danger for competition. Probably not a good reason but a reason. Another is the talent .vs. skill issue. A young kid with talent and imagination can be a threat to any photographer. It ain't that hard to take A good picture, but it can be darn hard to take THE good picture. That skill does not come easy and a Pro will be reluctant to hand it over to just anyone. Can you blame them, that gives them, "the edge." I'd say keep trying, there are plenty of photographers out there and at least some of them should be willing to give a kid a chance as long as they promise to not be too big of a pain in the ass and are willing to do the grunt work in exchange for minimal pay and valuable education. Good luck to you and remember this question when you are asked it 20 years from now.
Thread: Shoot the Moon! | Forum: Photography
It was hazy here as well but I already have moon pictures so I didn't mind. Astrophotography really requires the right conditions and the right equipment so I have never tried too hard. If I may ask, unless you are doing a time lapse or something, what's the big deal about moon shots? Isn't it basically a moon with some degree of a shadow on it?

I agree with Michelle. The white space doesn't seem to hurt it to me. It is overall maybe too dark and the tree is covers too much of the central point. But, I love the angle of the picture in the background so moving the foreground may not be possible. The image is a great subject and anything you took out, you did it well, I don't see any obvious work.

Can there be a prettier color than a robin's eggs, in the nest, of the neighbor's bush (not the only dirty mind in the bunch, I see.) Uh, I think you are missing the genuine example of repitition here - the nest. If you you don't think that was repetative, ask Ms. Robin up there how many times she had to fly off, find straw, fly back, weave it in, fly off, find straw, fly back, ......... you get the picture.

In the case of shot number 1, just tell them what you are doing and ask if they mind. People involved in an event generally don't care, they figure it is part of the show.
This shot, for instance was taken at a civil war renactment. The people there are dressed in costume and expect people to be gawking at them. Also, the people that attend the event are aware of a camera but not so intimidated by it.
Good luck and have fun.
Thread: REQ: Photos of VW's | Forum: Photography
I'll see what I can do. There are a couple of VW junkies around town. I don't know many in restored condition though. I'll ask if he knows anyone that wants to model for a resto garage.

Took me a minute to figure out that what I though I was looking at, I was actually looking at. I agree on all points. Nice shot, great idea and might look a little better darker.
