There is a couple of friends of mine that has published some works, and they always work together... They say they find the collaboration helpful while writing dialogues, when they act one character each... They say that often the other came out with thoughts and hints that the words said by a character can be read differently from what the actual writer intended, and that usually this tecnique is helpful to have the dialogues more realistic than the ones written by a single person... They have not a main author who has the last word... At least they state that their work is basically on the same plane... Since there are some years they go that way I think that for them it works... This just to refer some experience... I think that it mostly depends on the relationship you can establish with the other author. To tell the whole truth I must say another thing: I don't like very much their way of writing, but I don't know if this disliking comes from their writing togeher, or if they both have a style I don't like very much... (Just to let you know I'm still alive, and always reading the writer forum, even if my difficulties in writing in English keep me from writing comment or posting something from me...)
Thread: OT - what is @ called in your country??? | Forum: Writers
In Italy it is "chiocciola" (that is a snail, without the 'little'), "chiocciolina" is used seldom... But now the 'at' is spreading, maybe because it's shorter...

Thank you! I'm Italian, I'm not in the regions so badly stricken... But all our hearts and minds are there... Thank you for your prayers...

Great! I was expecting something very difficult but... Even if I didn't know there were such words in English, most of them were for me perfectly understandable (aaagrh! not sure this last word is English, I hope you'll understand) I think it's because they have Latin roots for the most part... And Italian is not so far from Latin...

I admit I tried it too... I reached the incredible amount of 104200! And satisfied with it, in spite of your bigger number... :) Do not believe that, for a Non English speaker, it's so easy... I could have built a lot of long and valuable Italian words, bud it didn't accept them :(

Oh yes, I like better this reposting... What I like of your piece is that it doesn't seem to be written, it seems to be told... It hasn't a literary aspect, as if it is meant to be listen at and not to be read...

Another good group of stories, it was a pleasure to read them... I'm so sorry I cannot think my stories in English, I'd like to put my hand at this topic, just to see how can I handle children... It has been a pleasure to read your ones, I'm sorry I had been able to connect again only yesterday, or I've commented each one when it had been entered...

I'v been out for a while (problems with the connection)... But I'm very glad to see that I missed a lot: this means that this forum is growing and that I have a lot to read... Maybe not a good idea to read this thread at midnight, just before going to bed... But I like your stories... Being Italian I've some problems with some pieces, it's not so easy to figure out what is unsaid... and some hints may escapes me, but on the whole I'm enjoyng the reading very much! Thank you for sharing... (This post is mainly because I want to be e-mailed if someone adds another piece...)
Thread: Where do you write? How do you write? | Forum: Writers
Hi! I'm not posting much, but I'm following this forum (I'm Italian, and it's not easy for me to write in English, but I'm enjoying reading your works)... I write very much (in my native language of course), and like Caledonia I really cannot type my "literary" works... I need a piece of paper... I think a lot about my stories before writing them... When they are ripe (I hope it's the right word) they came out all at once... I really write everywhere, but the way I like best is at my desk, with one of those pens that need dipping in the inkpot, so that I can fondle each sentence before fixing it on paper... (I have one pen with a glass nib, it's really fantastic!)... Forgive my English, and... I don't post much, but so far I love this forum...
Thread: What would help you - what do you want to see in this forum? | Forum: Writers
I like all the ideas above... And I'm going to like this forum... The only problem I have: I'm not an English speaker (Italy here)... But I'll be glad to follow how things develops, and maybe I'll partecipate with something simple... (a way to learn after all)... But truly I think I'm going to love this forum!

Cinema1954, (the screw), Because is gives the idea of a deep tridimenisional space but the writing is very clear and readable.
