I think it is probably more useful for blowing up an already fairly high res render (from A4/A3 to A1) to save the days of rendering that would require, It makes sense that the more pixel info will bring a better final result.

More than that - this site has all the planets textures!! :) - it's an absolute gem of a resource! On visiting it today, it appears that he is now charging a minimal $5 for the very high res versions, but I think the low and medium are still free. That's a great image!! - very nicely done! So what was the original size then? Maybe you could post an enlarged (with GF) section of the original small files as a reference to see the effect!?

Interesting - I will check that out. I don't know what the software is called, but there is an app that runs on Silicon Graphics boxes, kind of like photoshop, but much more powerful, and this can res up an image considerably with no real loss of quality or sharpness - pretty amazing to see it at work. Given the price of an SGI machine (minimum of 6k upto something daft like 50k) it's not an option for most of us! Thanks for the link!

{This goes for ANY pre-built, 500%-plus profit machines, from Apple OR Alienware or whoever. I can build a better machine in minutes for 1/10th the cost, and so can all of you.} Lets not get into this fully here, but I just have to say, that it's not just about the machine, it's the OS and as yet on a PC, you don't have one worth mentioning! ;P

{Macs are overrated!!!} Yes, and that being the case, OSX isn't the most advanced OS yet and crashes as often as Windows... ...I am off to LaLa land to wait for my new landscape app! ;D Jokes aside - they may decide to do a PC version from the revenue point of view, but as a Mac user, I can tell you, it's really nice to hear this after the amount of shafting the platform gets from the 'money over creativity corporations' ;)

No idea what Doc Mojo is going to do, but Corel are dumping the Mac side of Bryce 5 - so it's all conflicting info, as it suggests they may continue with Bryce 5, maybe even 6 for PC - who knows... All I know is that Eric Wenger is the man behind the app (several apps in fact) that I have always preferred, and those examples look sweet to me - if he has another landscape app up it's sleeves with better code, and more features than Bryce 4, I want it! :) Whether he will make a PC version as well - who knows!?
