I wouldn't put much hope in E-On fixing this problem. I know Vue5I has had the problem - along with Vue4 and Vue4Pro. LW textures (as far as I know) have NEVER been imported properly. I don't think that you will find ANY way to import the objects along with textures into Vue5I.
From what I can see, you have two options:
For #2, you can use your LW objects as proxy objects in Vue to layer your vegetation and when ready to render, make them invisible or remove them. There is a thread over at Spinquad that clearly illustrates how to do this.
Unfortunately I have had virtually no time to "play" with Vue - the above info was gleaned from other posts on various forums.
Good Luck.

This has been a problem since Vue5I was released. There is no simple and easy answer. You can create a UV map in LW and bake the textures - which is probably the best solution. I feel your pain. I had contacted tech support regarding this issue and it was never satisfactorily resolved - we just have to live with the workaround.
Oh well....

Fortunately... on the internet and in many parts of the world... it's okay to disagree. Now if only those who disagreed would put away their weapons and decide it's ok to disagree and still be civil - as it has been here - this world would be a much better place. Don't you agree? :)
All the best!

"Aren't you forgetting that little thing called IP? You could go to DAZ and buy one of those nifty architectural environmental scenes...but you can't open a Bryce br5 file with Vue. or Poser. Or Maya, for that matter. Vue's vob format is the same. As is Max's .max, and all the other compressed/proprietary formats the bigger apps use."
This is correct, however with the applications of which I am familiar with... anything brought into Poser, Max,Maya, XSI or LW CAN be exported and I can use it in the app of my choice.

Exceed those limits, and you can be held liable both for old copyright violation and DMCA statute violations."
This is a good point. However I still feel even though I am buying the "rights" for ME to use the model, I should be able to use it in any application I choose.

"Sure, if you buy a copy-protected item, you can't export it. E-on has been quiet clear about that. The way I understand e-on's reasoning is that some people are not interested in exporting their content to other apps, and e-on is simply offering them the opportunity to get their content cheaper.
If you want to be able to export your content, well, don't buy copy-protected items. Go for the non-copy protected versions which are offered at Cornucopia, or stick to "generic" formats. E-on is just giving us more options. What's wrong with that?!"
This is a good point too. Personally I could not care less since I have never and will never buy anything from Cornucopia3D. I don't like the way they handled the entire fiasco of copy protection from day one.
If creators of content want to charge two different prices for the two types of content, that's fine - I won't be buying either. Essentially what that does is penalize everyone who wants to use the content in any application by making them pay for what the pirates get for free. I think it's bad business practice and I won't subsidise it.
People here were up in arms over the copy protection of Poser 5 and many said they would not buy it or future versions because of it. I was used to this having LW and WB and Mirage, etc. which require locks and passwords. I've never run into copy protection like this (not that there wasn't any mind you) and I don't like it. Therefore... like those who opposed the Poser copy protection... I oppose this type as well and won't be buying any of it - copy protected or not - since I feel we are being taken advantage of. Those who do not feel this way can of course buy anything at Cornucopia3D to their hearts content.

"You do not care for legal issues at all - an interesting aspect of American business attitude. I for example respect the issues my suppliers have and do not ignore that only because i think they do wrong. Example? Images from image libraries. Do i give them to my clients for free only because i paid for them? No, would be against the conditions i have bought them under. Even when the image libraries are American companies like Getty Images."
I don't think that you relaize the point of the problem. Now take that ONE step further like E-On has. What if the images from your image library that you bought would ONLY work in Photoshop. But perhaps you also work in Paint Shop Pro for a few special things. But since you can ONLY use these images that you bought in Photoshop... you're SOL if you want to use them in PSP. Not too fair is it now? When you look at things in a different perspective (regardless of what side of the pond you are on) you may see how unfair it is.
Does THAT make it a little more clear? I should be able to use ANY of the objects I bought for Vue in Poser or Lightwave or anything else - as long as I don't allow others to have them for free, which is kind of obvious. This "copy protection" is only stopping us legitimate users from fully using the product. Pirates have no problem with these schemes as we have seen all to well in the past.

Thread: Poser ?????Should I get it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, Dizzi's right - just checked it out and the way they have it set up is very misleading - they should have said "from $129." In that case.... ebay or Amazon.com look like the best bet. I'd go with Amazon - at least you get free shipping! :)

Uhmmmm... the first one on the left says Poser 6 Full or Upgrade. I think it's for both. :)

PS. I think I would go through Content Paradise - unless S&H is about $50! :)

LMclean,
I have no problem putting this to rest - I am not one to jump to conclusions and assume people are doing wrong. I also endeavor to READ each post BEFORE I respond. I think you and all others here who accused Andrezz of possibly using warez should apologize to him. As bruno021 said above, "this thread probably freaked out the poor guy" and possibly because of the people in this group he's decided NOT to come here any more for help.
Perhaps everyone here who "jumped to conclusions" should think about how they sound to others when they post. This forum is supposed to HELP people, not berate them and push them away.

"Andrezz should make it clear whether the software has been stolen or not. He merely states it was given to him on his birthday. Megalodon you said the software was not stolen. I don't know how you know this when Andrezz hasn't told us."
LMclean,
check out post #12 above. He says: "it says that it corresponds to a LightWave Bundle, and they could not find my pre-registration."
I think that pretty much says it all. Quite obviously his friend bought the LW/Vue5I bundle and gave him Vue5I. How much clearer does he need to be? Unless you want to assume that he is lying?

I can't see why there would be ANY problem with this. It is legally purchased software and the person who registers it (either party) should own it. Yes, we don't know if it is actually legal where E-On (and the EULA) is concerned, but jumping all over this poor guy calling him a warez user WON'T help.
In a perfect world everyone would think of every possibility before hand - this is (quite obviously) NOT a perfect world and these possibilities were not investigated. It was an oversight and NOT something he should be berated on. Think with a little more compassion and understanding.
And since this is NOT warez, perhaps YOU could help the person instead of telling him what he SHOULD have done. You have dealt with E-On (I'm quite sure) more than Andrezz has - perhaps YOU can find out for him?
It has been discussed in several forums while this E-On/Newtek sale was transpiring that many people already had Vue5I and would sell their copy to pay for the LW upgrade. Many people don't want two copies of Vue5I. I had not heard either way that this is legal or not.
It would be nice to know.

(disappointed at the speed in which this forum can condemn)
PS. I use Vue5I (bought it before the sale) and then bought two upgrades (for 2 of the 3 LW seats we have) with Vue5I. We now have three Vue5I seats and I doubt we'll use them all. I haven't even thought of selling any of them yet but it would be nice to have the option.

It sounds to me like his friend gave him the free copy of Vue5I that was bundled with Lightwave. "it says that it corresponds to a LightWave Bundle, and they could not find my pre-registration." It's NOT warez OR stolen. Please read the posts before you respond calling him/her a warez user.
I have no idea how it would work, but he should be able to register it. Why not?

Thread: OT Disney X Pixar | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay... well maybe not HERE... :) But there are INCREDIBLY talented people on the various forums that DO have the talent to pull off what Pixar has done. It's just a matter of grouping together and focusing that talent AND have a great script.
I have NO doubt many amateurs could pull this sort of thing off; though they must have talent, persistence and determination. I've seen MANY shorts on the web that show "unbelievable" talent in animation, and thought to myself that that same talent applied to a great feature-length story would be wonderful. This WILL eventually happen, it's just a matter of when.
Of course this is just my opinion and everyone is free to agree or disagree. We shall see.....

"what I think is kind of funny is the HUGE amount of money Disney paid for Pixar. It would have been much more cost effective to... I dunno actually look at what makes Pixar so good (instead of just assuming it's cuz they do 3d) and fixing their own animation division."
That's actually a pretty good observation Berserga! :) And a VERY good point!! You figure that ANYONE here can do the same thing Pixar has done - provided they have a great script/story.
