Here's a REALLY HELPFUL TIP!
Okay you know how sometimes you paste or add layer and the image is kinda' real big? (and we can use Lucies tv in the above post as an example...) so you grab the handle points and you resize it down and hit the apply button. Oh man! you made it too small! now if you select it and resize it upward, it's all fuzzy and looks like crap. This is because whenever you transform the image you are destroying pixel information. your only option is to re-import the layer/image are try to get it right the first time...
This time BEFORE you resize it, select the layer and from the layers palette (click the little arrow by the tabs) scroll down and select CONVERT TO SMART OBJECT. This will keep the layers graphic at the imported resolution (or size) and allow you to resize it smaller and then if you change your mind and found you went to small, you can resize it upward again without any loss of clarity.
I work with SMART OBJECTS all the time. Great time saver when trying out different comping ideas.
Thread: Photoshop cs5 books | Forum: Photoshop
I've always used the "... Classroom in a Book" books. They're the "official" training workbooks from Adobe Systems. Whenever an upgrade comes out for any of my Adobe apps, the company gets me the books to help me get up to speed on whatever the changes are...
granted a lot of the times it's not that necessary to get another book, for every upgrade but i've found those books have been the ones i go back to, or train others from...
Thread: Action to Script...? | Forum: Photoshop
the install on win is pretty straight forward, dump the contents of the zip in a tmp directory (or anywhere, as long as you remember where when you run the script...) Then from PS execute the script: YOURTMPDIR/xtools/xapps/Install.jsx
it should create the XToolkit.atn action file and load it into the actions folder.
i might run through this on my mac when i get to the office in the morning and see what changes have developed in the scripting functionality for PS. like i said, it's been awhile. almost forget it was still around.

haven't done or even used scripts in a while, it but it seem xtools is the way to go.
will you be installing the toolkit on win or mac?
Thread: where can i find this font?? heeeelp!!!! | Forum: Photoshop
i've used "WhatTheFont!" on MyFonts website in the past and have been able to track down the font name.
give it a try: http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
Thread: Timesaving Photoshop CS5 Shortcuts and Tips (LINK) | Forum: Photoshop
shortcuts are the way to go. sometimes they become so second nature, you forget which menu they're in when explaining a method or process to someone.

when you say blueprint, do you mean like a house plans type of blueprint?
can you post a sample? might help to get you a better reply if i could see an example.

Thread: CS5.....WOW!! | Forum: Photoshop
hi sommerpears, welcome to the forums.
i'm still waiting for the office to get me my upgrade to CS5. i had them upgrade all the other creatives in the department first and i'm the final designer to go. oh well, that's what happens when you let the women and children go first... there's no lifeboats left!
@Rorsdor, when you say there are lines through the artwork, do you mean the colour is "banding" (...the gradients aren't blending, but show as steps of different colour...)?
i haven't heard of a printing issue specific to CS5 (but then again, i haven't been able to run it through it's paces), what type of printer are you outputting to?
...and to minimize the risk of your problem getting buried and not really answered, start a new thread and hopefully you'll get a better answer.

Thread: Using CS2, but I think this could be a basic question: Resizing Brushes | Forum: Photoshop
I know this won't be much help but i use PhotoZoom Pro 3 by BenVista (i'm a MAC though they do have a PC ver that runs on XP VISTA WIN7), but it's pricey (i had the company pay for it)... They also have a "classic" version (a bit cheaper), and both have a "Trial" version (watermarks the file) to see if it will do the job for you...
I've really have had great results with it on my photography, but it might be a TEN DOLLAR solution to a TEN CENT problem...

Quote - Thank you all for your suggestions. ...
By the way, Windows7 is 64bit, Vista is 32bit.
me's, i'm a "Snow Leopard" myself (kinda' fell off the WIN wagon)
hope things worked out for yo,

Thread: viewing psd thumbnail in Windows Explorer | Forum: Photoshop
it seem as MS has changed things around with win7 and even Vista and support for the DLL was drop because of conflicts with Windows...
if you're running 32bit you can try this possible solution (View thumbnails images for PS in WIN)
The real solution lays in the proper PSD codecs. According to Adobe, "This is how Microsoft envisioned extensibility to 3rd party image formats for Vista, with metadata integration with Windows Search and full-size viewing and slideshows in all built-in image viewers, support which was also extended to Media Center in Windows 7... "
You can try a couple 3rd party codec (but they cost...)
FastPictureViewer Codec Pack (which provides good support for layered files saved without the Maximum Compatibility option).

hope this helps
