i dont know about this buisiness with the bird... (must be a US thing) so i guess he aint, modelling time 2.5 hours have now started to animate him, (its a wrench having to climb on the roof with the copper rod though, but it does speed up render times).

hmmm, tricky... i voted on the interpretation of the idea, so thats why 3 points to: the bryster for a good idea, 2 points to: lindans for a nice picture and 1 point to:vasquez (simple is good). bit dissapointed to see multiple versions of the bryce screen - glad i changed my original post of it. so many entries so little time, i bet this year we will top 100 entries per challenge

glad we could help, i feel this whole 'nudity' issue is a bit of a problem, insofar as we come up with images and then think, okay where to put some breasts so that it'll get looked at. but if we are true 'artists' then that shouldnt be the case, just go for the image. i have done enough 'life classes' in my time to - get over it - maybe there should be a small movement to put some 'real' nudes in our work. i have painted (old technology, involves a stick and some pigment) many interesting nudes of older people - old skin with a persons life showing in their face, scars and wrinkles is a real challenge, although my favourite was a preganant woman which i found an exciting piece of work. oops have rambled on a bit - sorry. just go for the image.

oh yes bryce is what really allowed me to enjoy making 3d pictures and also animations. it is very simple to use, and because of that once you have the basics quickly the rest is up to you and how far you can push it.. just look at the galleries. i still only use Version 4 and yet the fun i have had has been wonderful. if bryce could do BOnes and figure animation then that would be the only programme i would ever need, and at such a reasonable price too.

i dont know if this is any help, but when i have something like that to do, i create it in layers, eg. the distant trees, produce a render of them alone then transfer that to a picture plane/transparency (probably not the right term but i think u know what i mean). this should dramatically reduce render problems. also you could apply this to plants, some digi photos, as transparant bG picture planes. also maybe use a terrain with slight curves for the foreground grass/road rather than dead flat. hope this helps.
