I really love this contest that goes on here. The room has such a warm aura about it. The artwork just keep getting better and better. Makes me sometimes wish I still had my copy of Carrara. Anyway, congrats to Twillis. I think that is a very sharp image. Feel free to drop into the Lightwave room and mess around with us for a while or even drop us a pic or two. All are welcome and your artistic expression and criticism is much welcomed. We are a silent bunch but a friendly one nonetheless. Also, remember you can find inspiration anywhere! 8-)

Thread: Where to Learn about Carraras fate? | Forum: Carrara
I was one of the fools who bought Carrara. I was excited about it because Metacreations put out great solutions like Poser and Bryce. Those packages were pretty good so out of expectation I thought that I was getting a good product. But like most, I was wrong and there was a since of betrayal, after kicking myself for NOT looking at industry standard I decided to turn to the industry standard and bought Lightwave(6). It is less expected that a company like Newtek, Autodesk etc... are going anywhere as they have a very solid footing in the industry be it gaming and or movies and engineering. If you want the bang you have to put out the bucks. I mean you rarely hear Lightwave or 3DS max user complaining about patches and software unrealiablity.

Hey that's very good. I like the excellent use of seemingly opaque blues to not only set a mood of coldness, and non-organic but also its added texturing. Did you tent the alpha plane??? Great reflection on the armor also. Although I did do a space scene, mine is someone different. More along the lines of your first piece. I am sorry that it is taking me so long but I am waiting on a plug-in. I'll post tommorrow with or without the plug.
Thread: For those who's system runs on (AMD processor) some + news | Forum: Carrara
Hmmm, I just got back from their website and that is good news. I have always thought that AMD was an excellent processor but it is usually more focused on by gamers. There was alot of information missing about how it performed will multithreading. I mean, I have watched my performance level go through up to 35% at the highest while multi-threading and alot of that has to do with your operation system. Which OS were they running? I am suspecting WinNT, but Linux, Beos, and Unix handles threads better than NT. With Irix you can get up to 98% performance increase. That is what I have read. Beos I hear has very good threads. Linux of course, GREAT OS with good threads but I have never gotten anything above 50%. I wish they had more information on the infrastructure of the mainboard and performance notes. It was all too vague. Still a step in the right direction for AMD however.
