Thread: Question/problem (?) with new V3 cloak | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Judith, et al - I know how you feel about selling an add-on for an item that's flawed in some way. Fortunately in this case there's a workaround but in some cases you just can't hide it or work around it. There was a V3 clothing package I bought for which I had about 6 excellent texturing ideas. Unfortunately the collar area stretched so badly that it would have been impossible to use any kind of repeating pattern - no matter how subtle - or a bump map. Even just slightly contrasting solid colors looked awful. I had to scrap the project. I contacted the vendor but got no response :( -Nancy

Bryce users (I've been one since V2) we've been shunted around from pillar to post (vendor-to-vendor) so often we feel like a tennis ball but hoo-boy, you should have seen the lists (they didn't just sizzle, they exploded) when Version 3 came out (or was it 4? I think it was 4) and it was really flawed, and then the reactions were even more intense when MetaCreations dumped the product and all the employees to go on to further glory :) Web sites were 'draped in black', a hundred unflattering versions of the name "MetaCreations" were bandied about - it was not pretty. Getting riled up at Adobe would be like splashing water on the Rock of Gibraltar me thinks -Nancy.
Thread: DAZ3D Platnum Club Rant | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know I'm going to regret this but: There's nothing wrong with an occasional generalized rant of frustration and the need to find out if anybody out there feels the same - I've done it myself. However, making any one person the focus of this is just not cricket. 1. If you have a problem with anybody as a member of Renderosity and feel you've been hounded send a copy of the offending material to whomever is in charge of such things here. 2. If you feel you've been treated unfaily by an employee of DAZ, send a copy of any documents or communication to the management of DAZ. 3. Try to act like an adult. -Nancy.

I'm pretty thrilled with the PC and the discount on Premium store items so no rants on that - although I would like to see more Mike stuff.
Khrys + Irish - regarding the comments on the 'posability' of the Fantasy Morphing Dress. At first, I too was frustrated but since I'd committed to making a texture set (not-so-subliminal note: just released here) I figured I should get over that hurdle.
The biggest revelation (and help) was when I turned on full tracking while posing the "skirt" bodyhandle - after twiddling any pose dials in the "Body" group relating to movement. I look at the skirt body handle as the final tweak in my pose. Slap a sticky note on your monitor to remind yourself to turn full tracking OFF after you're done. Otherwise it slows down everything.
Also, when I'm posing V3 in this dress, I make sure transparency on the garment is turned off.

Thread: (humour/serious) Warning regarding People textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you want to guarantee a stop at every security checkpoint in the airport, just purchase your ticket within 48 hours of your flight or purchase a one-way. It's a slam-dunk. I spent a year-and-a-half commuting from San Francisco to San Diego for a project and spent way too much of my life in airports. I noticed a couple of things about searches - woman with infants and a percentage of folks in the 'more mature' category are ALWAYS in the search line. Strange days and strange ways... -Nancy.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of your comments but always remember, "We" (the collective national "we" as well as the individual "we") make this country what it is - either by our action or (worse) inaction. For every great thing we can be proud. For every injustice we should be equally ashamed but we can't stand apart from any of it without taking a measure of responsibility. =Nancy.
Thread: Please help With V3 Catsuit Transmap | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Absolutely - there are several ways of doing this. One of the ways I do it is to draw my transmap outlines and then combine them with a selection of the material zone I want to use. I use UVMapper (classic version free at www.uvmapper.com) to create an image for each material zone and then create a selection for each that I save to disk or a channel(can be done in both PSP and PS or other similarly featured editing programs) so I can call them up when I need them. If an item just has just a few zones, I'll add the material zones as layers in my template. Regards, Nancy. Regards, Nancy.
Thread: Please help With V3 Catsuit Transmap | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I love the catsuit and I'm thrilled with the surplus of material zones. Haven't figured out what I'm doing with it beyond one quasi-good idea but there's one thing I'm not looking forward to dealing with. The four major parts are between a hair (front and back) and somewhat (arms) off center. If you run a guideline over the front and back sections you'll see it. It's not a huge, horrible, teeth-gnashing road block but it will make certain things a little more difficult. SamTherapy's right on - the material zones are there if you want them and can be ignored if you don't. One thing that I do is to draw my transmap lines on a copy of the template and load that image up as a texture map. In Poser I can render small images of where those line up with each other. It makes being very precise a little easier. Alternatively, the marked-up template can be loaded in UVMapper as a texture. Good luck! Nancy.
Thread: FYI: Daz moving into larger location | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Office moves... The thought brings up too many memories of PM-ing computer/network moves for various and sundry clients. Be kind to the project manager and don't forget to bring along the wastebaskets and power cords. Regards, -Nancy.

Thread: How do I convert a .jpg file to a bum file ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
lululee - do you use Photoshop? If so, there's a Photoshop action that I like alot posted in the free section over at Poser Pros. If you search this forum's threads for "bump" or "bum" you'll see several dedicated to bump files and the relative merits of various forms of conversion. -Nancy.

Garblesnix - from my perspective, (and I'm not a texturing 'deity' - someday, perhaps) I'd like to get my itchy fingers on them to texture. I'd be interested in knowing if/when this happens. Regards, Nancy.
Thread: DAZ Fantasy Dress - What the secret to getting it to pose? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I struggled with this, too. Body Handles just boggled me a bit. It helps if you turn on "Full Tracking" (Display > Tracking > Full Tracking -or- Shift+Ctrl+C) while you're posing the skirt. Since this is a bit of a resource hog to have on full-time, you may want to turn it off after you've got the skirt in position. -Nancy.
