ok...after reading :P
I agree that though the composition is better on the second one, it lacks some depth in colour department. What do you use to edit with? I use Photoshop and the best tool I've found in that is a Curves Adjustment Layer.
The image attached was modified in about 1 minute with a curves adjustment layer. Its not what Im saying you should do with the image, but an example of the effect you can acheive without messing about with selecting one element of the image with a selection tool. I hope you dont mind me fiddling with yor image ;)

No dead pixels on my Hyundai either. I did alot of research before buying it looking for people complaining about dead pixels, and didnt find many venting their anger. As with anything you spend your hard earned cash on, research research research! I wouldn't go back to a CRT now...I like this extra room I have, and that I can get my monitor under my arm when ferrying my PC. Still, the extra real estate on a 1600 x 1200 CRT would be nice ;)

Nice job :). I wonder how many people would think your friendly traffic police with a camera on a tripod!

Thanks for the kind words gang. And yes, we were very very lucky to have the right weather, be in the right place (ie middle of nowhere in the highlands) and have the most awesome display that night. Still buzzing from it now almost a month on!

"Love that truck. Is it a Ford Powerstroke Diesel? " I have no idea. It's a Ford though. The other one was a GMC Suburban...going anywhere but Suburbia ;)

A Super Jeep - one of the 2 Jeeps on our expedition. Basically the Icelanders take a normal 4x4, and then modify it!
The antenna is on on a hut in the background ;)

That looks a useful tool. I've been struggling with colour calibration and I'm not sure I want to shell out on a hardware calibration tool just yet (maybe one day). Now I just need to find a "GretagMacbeth Color Chart" :|

3 for me. The less distinct background highlights the subject matter more, and we can see alot more detail too! :) As for whether it fits the opposites subject matter, I feel that the contrast difference between fore and backgrounds is enough of an explaination for me.
