Thread: Morph Targets: what, how, when .... ? | Forum: Poser Technical
Yeah, but the problem is really that if I export a crumpled up neck and chest, then work on them then try and reimport the neck and chest as morph targets then it wont work because they contain info (transforms) caused by the scaling. As lesbently said (if i undedrstood) the morph targets are really applied independently of the scaling. To tell the truth the whole situation is giving me a headache trying to understand it, maybe when I get a bit more competent (so give me a few years). Best wishes, Barrie.
Thread: Poser control via a TCP port ? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Just took a look in the free stuff poser-pro section(before bed) and found this script: # TransPoser v0.2 madz 1/2003 madz@subservers.net which more or less could act as a skeleton for what I want, but my poser (5) python interpreter complains theres no "thread module" in the line "import thread", the script was written for poser pro, but I cant see why such a fundamental module would of been renamed ? any clues as to why I get an error anyone ?. thanx, Barrie.

wow! quick response, thanx for the reply Im not too familliar with BSD sockets only really with the classes available in Java, which I dont think are BSD in any way... but I do know that theres a plethora (spelling sorry) of info on them so I should be able to find plenty of demo code, thanx for the link , I'll have to read up tommorrow its late now. Best Wishes.

AH, Ok thanx for the explaination. So if I spawn a morph target then whatever scaling effect wont be considered, I guess if I use magnets in poser then I can solve my problem, just a pity I hate modeling in poser :(. Thanx for the help. Barrie

damn, lol, I knew this is likely to be a long thread so I elected not to "Email me.." , thats another thing that doesnt seem to work.. (or maybe it was just me).
Thread: 3DS Max 6 demo | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just wanted to mention theres a thread in the 3ds forum, about habware not working in v6, there was an alternative though I think.. Best wishes.

Just a minor problem, if those in power listen to these threads. The main forum page doesnt seem to show how many new items any more. (coincided with things going faster, wierd) Seems a lot more stable to me otherwise.

Hi, this site had heads and full references, but they are changing the site at the moment it seems (just as well cos it was damneds low), it has some good stuff, but I dont know where it all is at the moment.. take some time to browse it... http://www.fineart.sk/ should mention it has nudity ! Best wishes Barrie.

So "transforms" scaling and the like operations are applied after any MT is applied ? Operation to get current figure is something like : a> Load Base figure b> apply all MT's to base (any order, summing vectors is commutative) c> apply "transforms" ? so... if I try and create a morph target using the figure after c> , then its doomed to disaster :( .. so how do I get around the problem of having to see the resultant problem so I can work on it ? .. any ideas ? Best wishes Barrie.
Thread: Exporting 3DS from Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I havent triesd exporting as 3ds from poser so dont know if that will be any problem or not, if it is then it may just be scaling, 3ds scale is about 1000 bigger than poser so you end up with microscopic meshes in 3ds that you cant zoom into .. Although I havent tried the 3ds export i have tried exporting as obj and importing via habware obj2max (which allows you to scale up verticies (1000 is best scale)) Anyway if you take a look at the poser tutorials theres one for exporting to 3ds that may help. Best wishes. Barrie
Thread: My old MT symmetry problem.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
... yes , it worked: manually seperating the vertices into their appropriate groups .. what a palava .. isnt there an easier way ? but the good news is :) I can do it now :) thanx a lot for your helps. Barrie
Thread: My old MT symmetry problem.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry, I just cant seem to be able to figure out how to do it in MT mirror .. even if the parts are totally symmetrical to start off with .. this is the procedure I tried : A. 1.import .obj file parts to work on (maintaining grouping) (for example lshin and rshin) 2.save out as a .obj file (maintaining groupings) (for example shinsBase.obj) 3. modify one half and save out as shinsHalf.obj (maintaining groupings) B. 1. Import shinsBase.obj into mtmirror as base (OK fine symmetrical) 2. import shinHalf.obj as MT .. fine matches ok, 3. save MT as shinsFull.obj C. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I try and import the shinsFull file back into 3ds and end up with just one mesh grouping, so I can only seperate manually . .. is this what I have to do ? It seems tath mt mirror doesnt retain the groups AM I doing something wrong ? Thanks for your help, Barrie.
