Thread: The problem with trans-mapped hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - or cool coils because of the weird uv map layout which is way off
Perhaps it would be possible to remap hair with wrong layout. Looks good so far. The baked reflections of the eyes are slightly distracting though.

Is anyone still interested?
Yes. I would like to see the effect with some brighter light, like an infinite. On the first and the last picture it is not easy to see what's going on, but the second looks really promising.

Quote - currently im working on a transmap hair that uses no image maps, will post images later,if anyone is actually interested,as i think i put images of an early hair shader a few years back but no one was really interested
I'm very interested. I was away more then 10 years from poser and picked it up again with PP2012. With IDL, light emitters and sss it has come a long way toward realism, but transmapped hair is still on the level of 1999 when i saw Kozaburos first hair prop for Posette.

Quote - Thanks for the real life pic of horse poop...hehe
Well now we all know what it looks like..
Your'e welcome.

Quote - It's a surprisingly difficult material. A few quick tries led to ... failure.
Although one of these is a good start on a hamburger shader.
I think it looks pretty good, but the color is off (to less green). Horse poo is a compound material and needs some fibers of grass or straw in it to look convincing.

Thread: OT: Snow in Johannesburg | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I like your signature, kawecki. After reading the nasa article linked by monkeycloud i realised that i gave a perfect example of Dunning-Kruger at work. It states:
"This shift in Earth's figure axis will cause Earth to wobble a bit differently as it rotates, but it will not cause a shift of Earth's axis in space—only external forces such as the gravitational attraction of the sun, moon and planets can do that."
Thread: OT: Snow in Johannesburg | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The axis changed nothing. Changing the Earth axis of rotation would imply a change of the momentum of the Earth. To change the momentum of a body you need to apply an external force to the body. The earthquake is an internal force and so, it cannot change the momentum of the whole body.
Sounds logical, but have you ever watched figure skaters or have wondered what the little clumps of lead on a wheel rim are for? The axis shift from the march 2011 tsunami is estimated between 4 and 12 inches.

Quote - The tsunami or earthquake or whatever it was in Japan knocked to earth of kilter several degrees and it a speculated that it's enough to effect climates because the sun's rays are now hitting the earth at different angles.
No, not several degrees, but several inches. That's quite a difference. One single degree difference would result in a shift of 4382655,29 inches, that's four million times more.

EZskin dosn't change the diffuse map, so if yours is black and white, it will stay this way.
Thread: Poser 64 Bit install --- Go in (x86) Folder or just C Drive? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My new computer had two harddrives, a small solid state disk for windows and a large conventional one for programs and data. A lot of installers use C: by default, so check it out.
Thread: Updated to Poser Pro 2012 -- Order on the Way --- What can I expect that's diffe | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - What can I expect that's different from Poser 8? Also, will all content still work on Poser Pro 2012 as well like it is now on Poser 8?
I've done the same thing, i just couldn't resist the offer. 2012 is faster but also intimidating with all the new options. Exploring them one by one is my way to figure things out, but I'm sure 2013 will be out before I'm halfway through. Meshes as emitters works fine in Poser 8 though. I still use Posette sometimes, since she was my first love:) The problem with newer versions of Poser is not that old content wouldn't work, but often the way it works is just obsolete. With IDL, there is no need to use AO, with real SSS, there is no need to use clever hacks or the fastscatter node. Real reflections look way better than baked in ones and so on. GC alone is a big step forward.

Thread: Texture problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - It shows up in the previews, it shows up in the materials room. But when I go to render, it always renders with the changed one.?
I use Poser Pro 2012, Sr2.1 and believe it's a kind of a bug. There is no point in showing different textures in the preview and in the render. Reloading textures changes -as expected- the preview, but not the rendered texture if it has the same name as the previous one. Quite confusing. The only solution was already suggested by Mike, but the different behaviour between preview and rendering gives me the idea that the function which reloads the texture checks first if the name has changed and cancels when not.
