Create the phi file with the appropriate hierarchy
Eg Elements - sofaBody sofaLeg1 sofaLeg2 sofaLeg3 sofaLeg4 sofaBack sofaArmRest1 sofaArmRest2 cushion1 cushion2
Generate the RSR and CR2 file
Adjust the JPs - especially the centers
Turn off bends for discrete pieces Eg cushions
The frame can be tweaked with tapers, scales, translates, rotates and so on ... even adjusting the scale extents or scale types - eg "propagatingScale" instead of "scale" in the CR2
Add the geometry switches in the CR2 or use "replace actor with prop" from the main menu for the cushions
PS You may fix JPs later by deleting jointing for cushions in the CR2
Hope this helps :)

Very Sorry about error in post - so I deleted it "dynamicsLock" is actually break in IK chain Actual line is "locked 1"; 1=lock,0=no lock,absent=no lock ... actor leftEye:2 { name GetStringRes(1024,101) on bend 1 dynamicsLock 0 hidden 0 addToMenu 1 castsShadow 1 includeInDepthCue 1 parent head:2 locked 1 channels { ... } endPoint 0 0.72461 -0.00696001 origin 0 0.62461 -0.00696001 orientation 0 0 0 displayOrigin 0 displayMode USEPARENT customMaterial 0 locked 1 }
Thread: Why does my simple PZ2 file create keyframes for all parameters? | Forum: Poser Technical
Maybe you could try under main menu ... Animation>Resample Key Frames ...>CHECK Current Element Hopefully this will work
Thread: Utility to weld and scale an OBJ file | Forum: Poser Technical
OBJ Welder ========== 1) Read the vertices ... This may be tricky as obj implementation varies But basically, every line with "v " has the xyz vertices in string format eg "v 1.0 2.0 3.0" 2) Read the faces... This may be tricky as obj implementation varies But basically, every line with "f " has the faces with numerical references to the vertex/texture/normal listing as follows eg "f 1/1/1 2/2/2 3/3/3" This may vary depending on whether textures and normals are present eg "f 1 2 3" , "f 1// 2// 3//" , "f 1/1 2/2 3/3", "f 1//1 2//2 3//3" 3) Iterate thru the vertices ... For each vertex, iterate thru the remaining vertices, checking for displacement, flagging the vertex as welded if within the threshold 4) Mark vertex shift ... Mark a shift down for the remaining vertices which will be later implemented in the face modification 5) Delete Welded Vertices / Modify Faces ... Delete the welded vertices and make the appropriate shift down in each vertex of each point in every face Voila ...
Thread: V3 clothing creation issue | Forum: Poser Technical
Understanding Memorise ====================== Memorise sets the initial parameters (aka preferred angles) in the figure form the current pose . These parameters are hidden from view and can only be seen in a text editor . Initials are set for scale, rotate and translate . They are used for ik - the ideal angle towards which iks are calculated - hence they are adjusted for the base figure as angles of relaxation - to get the best results in ik animation . They are also used for conforming clothes as starting parameters - so for clothing, the initial scales should match the base figure scales and the rotates and translates zeroed . An exception is when the initials have to be angled as in conforming high heels - the initial angle for the feet are rotated upwards to fit into the flat heels of the base figure . To get the right initial parameters for conforming clothes, load the clothing seperately into Poser . Turn off ik . Adust the parameters to fit onto a zeroed base figure . Memorise figure and save into the character library . Voila, conforming clothes ! PS For some reason I do not understand, if the base figure's initial angles are not zeroed (as in all of the commercial figures), it is imperative to turn on ik for the conforming clothing - to force a fit as the base figure rotates .
Thread: Origin/rotate/translate problem | Forum: Poser Technical
I think maybe set up as a cr2 would be less complicated Create an empty base group for the rotation Translation in the base group space would be in world coordinates Translation in the actual group space would be in local mesh coordinates
Thread: Creating a character from scratch... what did I do wrong? | Forum: Poser Technical
Unwelded groups - means that the mesh vertices are seperate Not relevant but mesh imports from DXF format invariably have unwelded vertices It may be that regrouping in UVMapper split up the vertices Solution is to import the mesh into Poser with 'Weld' option checked - at the same time you could also scale down the figure as appropriate Kudos to you for modelling a beautiful cartoon horse - GreenWithEnvy :) Godspeed in adjusting the jointing params with the jointing tool
Thread: Geometry injection file? Anyone tried this? | Forum: Poser Technical
I would think that a whole cascade occurs Just speculating ... The jointing architecture is recreated from the rsr Then filled in with parameters from the pz2 Which would mean that a whole lot of jointing info has to be included in the pz2
Thread: Poser Glitch | Forum: Poser Technical
Make sure that the figure and not the clothing is selected Only master figures can be saved Conformed figures and parented props are pulled in with the master during save
Thread: Advanced Conforming? | Forum: Poser Technical
As far as I can tell ... The whole character has to be rebuilt with PHI or bones Then the relevant joint parts mapped over from the original No 'current' software is capable of this because : The figure rebuilt may have to be modified/fixed for - Spheres(of Influence), FK-IK/Weld/Scale differences and Deleted joints Usually, the figure has to rebuilt with an extra distal segment eg loincloth should also include abdomen and thighs The mapping also has to include copying of names and other non-jointing parameters This is no small task (aka madness) if done by hand with a high risk of introducing bugs, hence the dearth of new figures that you describe However, if the new figure only has a hip, then the job should qualify as a junior Dr Frankenstein operation Good Luck
