i grew up in south dakota....spent many a happy hour at the Sand Lake Refuge....watched thousands of geese, ducks, pelicans, herons, cranes migrate thru each year....a wondrous sight that i will never forget :)
there is some interesting info on the internet about sand hill cranes and minnesota....do a google search and spend the rest of the night reading :)

where did you see the crane? probably migrating this time of year....they do like to browse in corn/wheat fields...they are omnivirous and will eat most anything that stays still long enough :)

in photoshop i messed around with levels....adjusted contrast....did a bit of dodging....adjusted saturation ..... most of these can be done in a darkroom as well but not as easy ot fast (in my experience anyway)....... probably the ideal way to take such an image is to take a RAW image with a digital camera....you don't lose as much color and density information with a RAW image

something pleasing to the eye and to the soul is ok with me.....digitally corrected or not :)
by the way....you can dodge and burn with photoshop also ... i use it to "digitally correct" my images all the time :)

i've noticed some folks get irate when you add a photograph to a terragen or bryce image as well...to me anything that i think enhances one of my images makes me happy...and thats the only person i'm trying to please :)

i took this one a couple years ago....but it does rain here quite a bit....its a doodad that hangs in my car window and its a yellow saturn outside....lots of color anyway (and we need color during those long winters :)

i selected the church....used the image level adjustment to define true white...ain't photoshop great ? :)

i added a sky...enhanced the white.....increased contrast on the cross....copied and dodged the walkway....saturated the yellow and greens in the church....rotated the image just a smidge
