mehndi said: "The key to this misunderstanding is actually in the above quote. It is the words "distributed in competition with the original". What this ruling means is that if I used a shrink wrap method to copy Vicki's body shape onto a new original mesh, built a face and head, made it into a posable character, and then sold it, I have actually created a product in direct competition with Vicki. She would likely be a huge success for me, because she could of course wear Vicki's clothing" Isn't that Vina D.?

the other thing is that VV and SS use a lot of scaling to create the figures and that doesn't seem to translate in the full body morphs you would want for tailor. I ran into that problem with steffyz's gaya charictor. the pants I tried to form to her didn't look any better after tailoring then before.

No tailor doesn't work with VV becouse her body shapes are craated with loaded magnets and pose files not permanat morphs Like massive Mike, you can make the magnet settings into permanant morphs then use tailor but then all the partial body shape poses that are part of the package wouldn't work. and actualy wyrmmaster's system of fitting vicky clothing to vv and ss is a lot quicker then loading them into tailor as well as being pretty slick.

sorry Phantast I missed your earlyer suggestion to Use grouper before I wrote My note I'm a huge fan of that program as Bryce grouping Is my least favorite thing in that program. I'm hoping that Bryce 6 uses a grouper like system.

something I have recently found immensly helpful is a program which groups all the seperate meshes before you even bring it into brice It even changes the refrence to the original Jpg bump map instead of the Poser bum file. its called grouper and is in the free stuff area. it uses a simpe explorer type window to drop sub meshes onto primary ones, bryce sees them as individual complex meshes. which makes texturing almost a breeze.

The bigest issue as I braught up in the other thread is that of non comercial use freebees, I can see many hassles with this problem coming up. It seems to me that in order to assure that their work is not used without permission some way has to be made to include nfcu (not for comercial use) into the rsr and/or png. sadly I can see myself and others mornfuly purging our librarys of older downloads simply becouse we forgot which were nfcu.

I hate to open this kettle of fish but, this does bring up in a real way the whole bruhaha about free stuff not for commercial use. Don't get me wrong I think it's a great idea, but I do wonder how many pieces will get pulled because of textures or props not getting proper permission for their use. This even more clarifies the need to have some way of easily Identifying non comercial use downloads after the fact.
Thread: Suggestions for an Angel? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
nice work, interesting angle, My only major suggestion is to go with sharkey's angelina wings if your planning more angel pics. they have great posability and come with a transmap which makes the feathers look real. the wings seem rather plastic in your Picture. oh and sharkeys wings are only 8 dollars!

Thread: Trouble with DAZ D/L pages | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had problems with both I.E and Netscape, Ive never been able to download from Daz with IE 5.5 or 6.0, though I do get the links, and this is the only site I have such problems with. My solution? OPERA!!!! it works every time for me. though is does seem that most of your problems are due to High volume at the Daz site as the same thing happened when steffy came out. if possible try way off peak download times.

Thread: what are your favorite poser helper apps? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK what I'm looking for is what are some of these programs, like Pwizard? I've heard about it but what does it do? and Phi builder? lots of newbys hear about how indespensible these programs are but have no idea what they are or how much they can do, having worked with poser less then 8 months I consider myself a newby, and every time I finaly figure out what people are talking about I hit my head in wonder realizing that if I knew about some of these slick aplications I could do twice the work in half the time.
