Can I ask why you need to have such precise results Donald if its for the Web the variation between different set-ups makes it a waste of time... And if it is for colour printing Why not save the best settings for your Printer? Or have I missed the point? I use the Adobe tool to set up my system and the Colour Prints from my Canon A3 are superb after some tweaking..

Interesting one while I dont own this camera get the same effect with my own Digital a Minolta7HI more like 2.5- 3 stops.. !! Love to know the solution but had thought it was due to the rather small flash compared to my Film camera.. And have not tried a dedicated flash as the price is prohibitive at present..

Thread: Minolta Dimage A1 | Forum: Photography
Hi well I have a Minolta7HI the previous version and to be honest have found it hard to fault in practical use.. It is quite a good upgrade from the original 7 So maybe this may be true for the A1... I have found like most things with practice you learn how to get the most from it Auto or Manual.. The lense is a beauty with wonderful saturated natural colours, and The A1 has the same optics..Its a bargain now at the price having paid a lot more when I got mine Grrr!! lol.. Maybe I would consider the New Canon EOS 300D if you can go to that.. But the plastic feel puts me off.. At the price the results are hard to beat IMHO Danny ...Best of luck whatever

Hmm thats some good advice I use Photoshop save for the web function as it does a brilliant job without all the hassle! The only thing you have to consider is keeping the file sizes below the limits for the image and thumb. Danny

Excellent job Marshall, there is nothing better than Photoshop for this kind of thing as showcased by this image!! Agree with Randy re the little gaussian blur on the collar, and the layering technique suggested, maybe a less advanced way is to try the blur tool which can also do a good job. I have some great books to recommend if you need to learn some other ways.

Thread: Anyone got any experience with the Epson 2450 scanner | Forum: Photography
Its a great scanner but agree about a dedicated film scanner would be much better, as you only indicate you want it to do 35 and 120 slides. If not and want it to do other jobs then its a good choice.

Thread: An answer for Misha's question... Where are today's compelling photographs? | Forum: Photography
Well speaking for myself and my family I do believe very much that great photo journalism does indeed take place at a community level where it can make a tremendous difference to ordinary peoples lives. My wife has MS and when her own plight with this illness was featured in our local newspaper very much as in your story, benefits and services were suddenly provided. The opposite side of the coin as you are suggesting is when a news story becomes the all important factor when the lives of those intruded upon can become a living hell.
