Quote - Not speculation. Fact. But, keep your DAZ blinders on. I have no reason to disabuse you of them.
Nope, sweetie. FULL Speculation.
I mean really. You seem to pounch on these threads in full storymode, and you get rabidly emotional about it too.
Really, get your facts together and state your discussion calmly.

Quote - Oh, I see....those long time DAZ PAs showing up in other stores are imposters, then?
Someone should probably put a stop to that! Especially since they've moved products out of the DAZ store!
Oh I think they've had those stores long before Genesis came out. So if you want to speculate, you probably need to get your facts straight. :) Many PAs set up shop in other online stores.

Quote - > Quote - Just a couple of quick points.
DAZ is not really losing "a chunk" of their PA's, The most recent "defection" (as you put it) was a guy who came in to daz, tried a product in the store and left. Which hardly makes a big defection LOL
All the real dedicated PA's are still around, because we know DAZ really is the best market for our stuff.
DAZ is also NOT forcing PA's to create for genesis, they still accept gen 4 products without hesitation. Of course it may seem like alot of PA's are starting to develop for genesis, but who can blame them, it is fun to develop for new figures, that allow you to do things you never could before. No one is forcing them though, its all because of their own interest.
As for losing a "big chunk" of their user base, that is also a falicy, because (like I said before) my sales are very stable for both old and new content. There are only a few people who like to yell and scream in the forums about how bad they think things are, when the reality is completely opposite. The fact is, sales are strong, many customers "happily" use both softwares, people do enjoy genesis and buy the products for it. PA's are making content for both genesis and older gen products, and there really is no division in the market. The only people who shout out about all these doom and gloom/conspiracy theory prophecies are people who have some talent at trying to twist facts to suit their agenda, rather than taking the time to find out what the real situation is.
There really is no need for a pissing contest of which software is better, no one is forcing anyone to use one or the other. People will just use what appeals to them with what products they want to use. Its as simple as that.
If someone feels slighted that someone made some real cool content for a figure they decided they dont want to use, it would be nonsense to cry foul over that and blame some secret conspiracy that PA's are forced to neglect one product or another...LOL..thats just silly...whe make for whatever appeals to US. Pretty simple huh? LOL
Rawn
ROFL, I think you missed a few "defections."
No he didn't ;). There was one pulled product and a few rejections.

I like F4 as well and have used him in one of my products, although at first glance they don't look like your typical F4 (I mixed in a little H4 to make one younger as well).
One of the renders I liked using F4 is here: http://male-m3dia.deviantart.com/#/d4hnp22

Quote - to take an example of DAZ QA these days, in their big promo of circus/fair props etc,
the 'Ferris Wheel' and its lights were not even loaded into Poser to try, or if they did the tester/s were told to ignore a BIG issue.
the 'Ferris Wheel Lights' crashed EVERY version of Poser, and the Carrara version crashed Carrara as well!!!.
they have also had a thread going asking for betatesters, only app knowledge required is for DS3/4.
a couple of threads were started about the issue, and several people contacted daz direct about it.
someone made a fix and posted it at sharecg, while it was up, no-one at DAZ told enquirers it was being looked at ( ie, the ones who contacted daz, never got a proper reply) within 2 days of the fix being pulled from sharecg ( by the author) daz staff were in the forums stating that a fix was being produced.
coincidence? i don't think so.
Speculation? Definitely. Let's try to have a discussion without too much of this. ;)
I've bought stuff on other sites where items (including here) where an item passed testing, but there were issues when I used it. For instance I've bought a few M4 characters where the nipple was off on the template. It looked fine in the default, but as soon as i moved the nipple dial it came up in the wrong place. But then I simply emailed the vendor with the issue and it was resolved. There's no company is going to give you perfect products every time (see Windows patches for reference)... you just hope the company can give you fixes in a reasonable timeframe.

Quote - I guess this is an endless debate.
I still think that a "Poser compatible" product should pay attention to how it renders in Poser.
And that's where the personal preference comes into play. It may have been tested and the person that made it as well as the person that tested may have liked how it rendered... yet when you set up the scene and light it, you may have a different opinion of the settings. It is still compatible. If you don't like the way it renders in your scene, then you have to tweak the settings. This is far different than you load a product and it claims to be poser compatitble and a morph doesn't work, or a door in the building will not open, etc. That's when it is truly not compatible. Compatible means it works similarly, not it doesn't look right.
Thread: DAZ Website | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I modify textures, materials, lights and whatever all the time - that is not the point.
But if no effort has been done in a product - which claims to be poser compatible - to make it look acceptable and just leave all the nodes at default value, I consider that poor support for Poser.
If you import something designed for another program, I totally agree - it is up to the user to make it look good.
But once again, this sounds like personal preference as you don't like how the shaders came out. That is not a compatibility problem... the product works, you just don't like the way it looks.
Thread: DAZ Website | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - I guess now we understand how DS users felt when content were not tested in DS and they had to tweak everything to make it presentable. I bought some products which were tested in DS (at least thats what the vendor said) but it just looked awful when rendered. Thats why I switched to poser. Only few vendor are competent enough to make decent shaders for both apps.
Except that DAZ claims support for Poser in these products - it does NOT say "not supported" or "not tested"
If they would, I would not complain and either change the materials myself or decide not to buy it.
This really sounds more like a personal preference rather than incompatiblity. You can always adjust bump and spec, because some things will look fine to one but not to another. I have to return a really nice outfit for M4 because mesh in the boots explodes when I pose M4 in DS but is fine in Poser. That's what not supported should mean.

Thread: A question about Daz Studio 4's cr2 export ability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I can't test it, but exporting a character's morphs with the free Poser Format Exporter script should make them usable in Poser.
This only works with poses, as the morphs now exist in Actor. Hopefully this tool will get updated to export this information.
For the products that we're working on, I had re-enter the morph values in poser for the body morphs. Luckily our morphs are custom so it's a simple dial for the head morph. After I do that, I save that cr2 with the active morphs and then I use the Injection Pose Builder (with a genesis library I created) to create the INJ/REM files.
It's extra work on my side, but at least you won't have to figure out what I did.
Thread: A question about Daz Studio 4's cr2 export ability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The exporter is pretty much a work in progress, as more stuff needs to be automated (like the obj step... maybe a check box to select whether it's exported or not since you don't need to export it every time)... but if Poser can get the subd working, the look between versions will be pretty much identical.
I've been testing it out with our characters, seeing what needs to be done in order to have the proper inj in poser; and our new characters will include INJ/REM files in addition so they can be used in Poser.
But to answer the OP's question, the exported CR2 contains poser's weightmapping. DS's weightmapping is contained in the .DSF files so a program will need to read that. I know people have asked about a self contained cr2, but genesis is a platform so that platform still needs to be read for updates and new morphs, so it needs to be read by a program that supports the platform. They were able to get the exporter out by reusing code and functionality within the program and modifying that.
Thread: What was this and why is it no longer for sale? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - If everyone emails dimension3d, and expects an answer, it would be unlikely he'd ever get anything done.
Yep, and that's why he also posted it to his website. Pays to look so you don't get people speculating and potentially going out of control. ;)
Thread: What was this and why is it no longer for sale? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Oooh - can I speculate? Everybody here gets to speculate all the time. Can I say what I think as though it is based on facts? This seems juicy and ripe for speculation.
D3D is a good programmer and vendor. His stuff works. I bet this worked.
Daz would like people to buy things they already have and this product prevents that.
I'm guessing this product would cost them $1 million or more.
Or I could be completely wrong, since I know nothing at all other than what you just showed me.
Actually it pays to actually email the guy... and it's also on his website. ;)
He's working on a new version of the program so it works better.
Thread: Victoria 5 coming soon?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I have just been warned by daz that as I said "Victoria 5 was just another genesis morph" I have acted negativly & been threatened with loss of posting priviledges
Not surprised, really. I was writing a response to it when your post was removed.
Here's the thing: You can disagree with something without sounding snarky and ill-behaved and misinformed, which was basically what your post was. People that lost their posting priviledges (aka banned) because they didn't know that distinction. Also following directions (such as being directed not to discuss a subject within a particular thread, yet you do it anyway, will get you in trouble.. as some have also learned.
If you want to have a conversations, by all means have one... but know how to compose your posts and know where exactly to do it.
By the way, you had said that Genesis needs to be accessible in more major programs... besides people exporting to C4D, here's a video of someone using Genesis in Maya using a experimental plugin:

I'll be willing to test functionality as well. Is it for fitting clothing for weight mapped figures as well?
