Quote - I have placed my figure in a set and ame useing the lights that came with it. When I render, my girl has no shadow on the floor. Do I need to turn the shadow on or something?
Probably. Check your render settings to make sure cast shadows is turned on.
Also check you light settings to make sure at least on of them has shadows
checked. Also if you are using ray traced shadows make sure raytracing
is turn on in your render settings. And make sure there is something
on the floor to cast a shadow against, like make sure the ground plane
is turned on, or use a prop like the hi res square to simulate the ground.

Quote - here's a scree of my desktop...its like a tab...pick the one i want...viola, there i am. You can only look at one screen at a time anyway.
What I like about Firefox is I can drag a link from the page I'm on to another
tab, or create a new tab and drag the link to that. Does multiple instances
of IE6 on the taskbar allow you to do that?Â

Quote - lol!
i see this everywhere and now i can't stand not knowing...i feel like the last kid picked in a schoolyard game.
Over TIme. At least that's what it stands for in (American ) football.
When the game is tied at the end of regulation, they add another
quarter. The first team to score wins. If no one score at the end
of 15 minutes then is goes down as a tie. Hope this helps.
Thread: 7 reasons not to pre-order Poser 7... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - I really am just curious how the deal with annoucing each feature one by one on a weird schedule and then without much detail actualy works as a marketting strategy... are there actually people who buy who otherwise would not buy were it not for this strategy?
It's a valid marketing strategy. This is used often with games and movies. You get a 10 second teaser that doesn't really show you anything except the films title and the release date. They show you a bit more as it gets closer and closer to the release date. The idea is to build interest and excitement. Getting you hungry to know more and creating a buzz. I don't necessarily this strategy makes people buy, but it certainly draws attention to the product. Look how many threads it's gotten started here.
This is what the cable channel FX has been doing for over a month now with
a new series called "Dirt". Been running ad after ad that give you no clue
what the series is about. Only recently have they even mentioned Courteney Cox
( from "Friends") will be in it. I finally went on the web just to find out what it
was supposed to be all about. But you'd never figure that out from the ads
on FX.
Thread: TSNHRQ (The Stupid Newbie Hair Room Question) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - thanks for the link (recorded..;) just curious..what's a skullcap (and I don't mean a yamulke..;) for?
Does it work in P5?
Instead of growing the hair directly on the head object, the hair is grown on the skullcap.
That way the hair can be transferred from one character to another, and I think it
also gets around copyright violations you would have if you tried to distribute
the hair on the head oject itself.

Couldn't you just use things like the cloud node and cellular node and plug it into the displacement input?
Then you wouldn't need any texture maps.
Thread: Deleting Daz Studio | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dunno, I have both installed on my computer. But he asked if it would cause any problems
to remove DAZ Studio, and it wouldn't cause any problems with Poser if DAZ Studio were
removed. Now I will admit I hardly ever use DAZ Studio, because I am more comfortable
with the Poser interface, but like you I have a large hard drive and it's not hurting anything
to keep it. So basically if one wants to keep it and space isn't a problem, keep it.
If you would rather have the space for something else and you are comfortable with
Poser and want to get rid of DAZ Studio, right click Delete it.
Thread: An error when I thought to be safe | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Also with P6 you could do a set of area renders instead of trying to render the whole
scene at once. Then you could use a Photoshop or an equivalent to join the
sections together. This might also show you which part of the render Poser
is having trouble with. Plus doing area renders means you haven't lost a
whole render if Poser crashes, just the section that made it crash. Then
when you figure out what made it crash, you can add the fixed section to
the rest of the scene in Photoshop.
Thread: Backing up Poser files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - DVD might be safer.
I lost an external hard drive and found out that they tent to overheat.
fortunately I did recover most of the file on it but still can't recover the boot sector.
And I thought it the best, safest way to backup.
The one I have used to get very hot too.
Almost burn me if I touched it.
What I did was get some heat sinks
(those little aluminum things with the
fins on them) and stick them on the
drive with some heat sink compound.
You can buy these at a electronics
supply store if you aren't familiar with
them. Now the drive is barely warm.
Thread: Backing up Poser files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Get an external hard drive and copy everything to it exactly how you have it set up
on your current hard drive. To be extra safe buy two.
Keep one or both somewhere else so in case someone steals your
computer, there is a fire, or some other catastrophe.
Then if you ever have to, you can copy it back exactly the
same way as you have it now.

Quote - Okay, there's a file limit size...moderators, may we please increase the file upload size??
You know, I can't recall ever seeing anyone ask that question before.
I'm sure they have their reasons why they can't, mostly money,
but it would be nice.
Thread: Rendering: Firefly v Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The P4 renderer isn't able to use a lot of the shader nodes.
Also P4 can't do ratracing so you can't do true reflections
and refractions or ray traced shadows
The pro is in certain situation the P4 renderer is faster.
The con is the P4 renderer isn't able to use a lot of the
shader nodes, or true reflections, refractions, and ray
traced shadows.
Plus Firefly gives you more control options such as
pixel samples, depth of field, motion blur, toon outline.

What I end up doing is saving the file, closing Poser, starting up Poser again, and reloading the file.
If there is an easier way I'd love to hear it too.
Thread: Free vending machine prop for everyone intersted. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Stefan Haeger has some vending machines at his web site,
including soda machines.
They are in the Vue .vob format, but if any of you already have
Vue you could probably export them out and use them in Poser.
If you don't have Vue please ignore this message.
