For all you ever wanted to know and more...The attached link is to the Asian Traditional Archery Resource Network. Photos of Yumi are there, along with any other type of "asiatic" bow you could imagine. This includes Middle eastern as well as "oriental" bows. They are grouped by country/regional type. I'd appreciate the bow too if this page helps you any. GrayMare Primitive archer, primitive 3d artist :-PThread: Armor? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

ISO's Yoroi Orleans armor is beautiful and free. Make sure to get Stixx's textures. The link isn't in the readme, but you can get the armor in the clothing section at the attached link. GrayMareThread: How Easy It Is For Warez Thieves and Website Hackers... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Because it's my job to deal with network security, and I like to play with HW/SW, I use an old Pentium box running Linux and various firewall software/proxy tools. For the less geek-inclined, I have been recommending the Linksys router to anyone who can use it, though many xDSL services only offer routers that have to be directly attached to a PC. If you can't use a router/firewall, Norton's Personal Firewall isn't impenetrable, but beats leaving the door unlocked and open. I too believe that you have to use a firewall if you have a broadband connection, or even if you leave a 56k dial-up on for long periods of time. Simply assuming that DHCP's changing IP addresses will make you safe is a big mistake. Sadly, we're reaching the point where Anti-virus and Firewall software is as important as the browser or email package.

Very Nice. Tell us how you rendered, where you got the great backgrounds, etc, please :-)

So is Poser Fashions coming back? Speaking of Fashions for Poser...somebody's site has page after page of t-shirt print textures, but I didn't save the link (too much 3am surfing), so now I can't find it. I'm looking for lots o cheap texture for a scene I'm doing for a buddy's band. Does anyone know of sites with a lot of commercial product looking t-shirts? Thanks GrayMare

Yes to all Butch suggested, and to the idea of having different folders open--MS Word, PSPro, whoever, have a context sensitive default folders for certain things. How 'bout opening a texture would default to the textures folder, or .objs would default to the geometries? Not ALWAYS the last place you opened anything... GrayMare

If you actually have the .obj files, you can edit the CR2/PZ3 files to show the correct path. I've done that, especially on occassions when I had two CR2s with different paths to the same .obj file. If you're creating a sharable Poser file, wouldn't it work to put everything in one folder, then reapply textures/props/etc? That seems to work well when all the files are in the folder. John Malis and RenaPD do that with their chars, and the only probs I run into are when they use a file that I'm supposed to have already installed that had different locations than they ones they had it installed to...possibly due to different versions of the same .obj. Based on experience with my system and recent posts here, the OUT OF MEMORY message on a PC is Poser's default "I can't do this". It happens to me when a necessary (vs desired) .obj file is missing. For example, if I'm opening an imported female character and NewFemNudeHiP.obj is missing, the char won't load and I get the "Out of Memory" message, but if "dress.obj" is missing, it loads but she's nekkid...not always a bad thing :) Sorry for the sexism. I have no idea why the programmer's didn't code the software with a more meaningful set of error messages. Whenever I have that happen now, I open the cr2/pp2/whatever file in CR2edit or notepad and search for ".obj" and check the path to see if I have that .obj file installed. If not, I either find the file somewhere or give up loading that particular figure/prop until I find the correct .obj file and put it in the correct folder. Can't help with 3Ds...sorry. Hope this explains the first q. though. GrayMare

I found the files--the readme says: "Egyptian Priestess by Traveler nimbus@telenet.net I found this model at the http://www.gwz.org/propsguild Poser Props Guild" Helen Duggan Paul Hafeli Strike a Pose Textures" Dunno if that'll get you there or not, but it's what I could find. This has made me realize I probably can't find things again if I lose them... Good luck GrayMare

Thanks guys. I have the cloth strip; It has problems when it gets scaled in/out to the sizes I'm working with. I bet Phil's carpet will work. GrayMare.

I just d/led two files one with Bast and a priestess, the other with Egyptian King/Queen. The props would help you. I'll be at home tonight to find out if there's a read me in the files so I can give you a link to find them. If no data in file, I'll help you get them. GrayMare
Thread: Who has read my new uploads successfully? re slow sites | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I d/led a couple of things last night (9pm EST US). The connection was pretty slow on the demon.co.uk, and a couple of links failed--not sure if it was to the other site or not now tho--sorry. Tripod can be painfully slow, and they are weird about content, as is Geocities. I snagged the "diver" with pretty much everything but the wetsuit, and couldn't get the wetsuit to d/l. I have a solid ADSL connection from here in the states. Hope this helps, and thanks for the mesh :) GrayMare
Thread: Problem with Poser 4.03...or is it just me? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Since I applied the patch, it does it to me too, in the same way--poser seems to lock up, as in the top half of render goes phooey, and prog stops responding to any commands. If I Ctrl-alt-del, it asks if I want to save the render (but not the w-i-p :P). I have various other oddities with WinME, 384mg RAM, P3-800. I just haven't gotten tired enough of it to figure out why, I guess. GrayMare.
