Thread: I Don't Understand This --- (My Rant for the Day) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I find Johnny's comments noteworthy - and the comments of all others as well. It has always been true that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Today i looked at the picks posted by Kimberly and found many of them good, others not so good. I agree with the "hug club" theory. Some of the images I see with gushing comments are just plain bad. Yet all of the comments are way too generous and touchy-feely. To me it is almost like a cut/paste situation - same stuff from the same few. To me, this is a disservice to the artist. I post a few images now and then, but haven't the talents of others here. I can't learn if no one points out to me that maybe the light is wrong, or the background sucks, or whatever. Constructive criticism is a must for an artist to learn and grow. If our egos are such that we can't take a bit of criticism given in a non-judgmental and considerate way, then this is not where we belong. Why else post?

Blender is very powerful, therefore a real bitch to learn. I committed to learning Blender last year, and I am still learning. Your work is highly advanced as to where I am at. You should be proud of this effort - it is really very good...

I think it is coming along rather well, with the exception that, to me anyway, it appears quite dark. You're right about the eyelashes. Otherwise, I am impressed with your results thus far...

Thread: A question for advanced modelers | Forum: Blender
Thanks to you two for the feedback. Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner - I have been very sick this year, and bed-ridden a lot of the time. Doctors can't find out what is wrong with me, so they are using me for a guinea pig. Been in the hospital and I am looking at another stay very soon, I fear.
The dress would be conforming, not dynamic. I have finished it, but I am having an awful time with Blender trying to get it UV mapped. Blender is not playing well with me - I can't get it to enter into the UV editor for some reason, and the interface is messed up, not allowing me access to the File menu. One thing I truly hate about blender is the goofy interface with the sliding windows that never go where ya want them to go, and then sometimes disappearing altogether. Sometimes, I just can't stand it...
I am disappointed with this because I want to get this finished for the Xmas giveaway. As things are now, I am thinking it might not be possible. The upside is that I have learned a lot about Blender in the process of making this outfit. "Always look on the bright side of life..."

Have to agree with Esther - her arms are kinda puny when compared to her boobs, legs and butt. She is a cool character, though, and will just need a little final tweaking to be great. Nice work, rokket...

Thread: Making hair for Poser in Blender | Forum: Blender
Quote - > Quote - ...The more I work w/ Blender, the better I like it...
As for importing the resulting hair back into Poser, I wouldn't recommend it. Poser already has a perfectly fine strand-based hair system already. In Poser9/2012, it looks especially nice. Poser would only choke on imported strand-based hair from another modeler.
I haven't gotten far enough in my Blender training to attempt to make hair. Fact of the matter is, I've not gotten around to go into the hair room in PP2010!
I made up my mind that this is the year I would learn Blender. I've got other apps, but have never been very happy with them. Blender has always been a bit foreign to me, until the newer releases when they upgraded the interface with side bars for tools instead of the myriad of buttons they had in older versions. I especially like the control you have when modeling clothing. There is a tut floating around here on Rendo that teaches you to make clothing using cubes to model, and then taking it into the cloth room for shaping. Very simple - very quick. I am refining that tutorial with some fairly decent results. I plan to share it here when I am a bit more proficient.
