I like V3 M3 and the rest of their extended family.
I guess I think it is dumb to have work that people have done as a sunk cost and that other people are willing to buy and say, 'no we're not going to sell it anymore because it is old and we have moved on.' To me it is recurring revenue with minimal effort. I think DAZ still offers V1 and V2 on occasion.
These characters are often a lot easier on computing resources. Many of them now can be put into crowd situations, especially with Poser being able to simply the clothing and the meshes.
Plus back in the day when they were at their peak pricing, my pocketbook and computer couldn't often handle the variety of textures available for clothing or hairstyles like it can now. My V3s are sunk costs. And they're fun. And if I see something interesting I don't mind adding to them. Plus not all of the newer stuff is really that good... some of it still looks like plastic. Please, nobody be offended. I'm just saying we will move on from today's latest and greatest, too. You may not realize this but when 78 RPMs were in vogue, people kept refining them. Many are 80 RPM and other subtleties with needles, etc. That's how I feel technologivally about some of the lighting things going on. They're incremental to the industry; notable to folks using them every day, but not such a big thing look from the outside, maybe.
I think as a community the more 3D stuff out there at reasonable costs the more people we will attract into the fold.
I mean, there are many companies that make brand new body parts for Model Ts, Model As, Mustangs, Camaros etc. You can build a new 1965 Mustang convertible from scratch as long as you have a valid VIN. https://www.cjponyparts.com/dynacorn-complete-body-shell-convertible-1965/p/MS65CV</https:>
Thread: Different way to View this Site? Promos consistently chop Top and Bottom | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
One more thing if anybody comes back to view this. Very minor in comparison to the issue above. When going to download items under Account/Purchases. You have to 'Click' on Purchases every single time you want to search for another product that has been bought. That's two clicks. Click Purchases, Click Search. Click Purchases. Click Search. Click Purchases. Click Search. Get the idea?
Why does the "search" line have to go away after every accessed item? Why do I have to go back down the menu back to Purchases before bringning up "search" to continue, even if I'm searching fo rthe same thing? Please, just leave the line there. You already leave the search marketplace line, why not the searach account line as well once a person has gone to look for things they've bought. It is annoying when you have more than three or for things purchased at different times to look for.
Thank you.

Thread: When is the next scheduled Clearance Sale? | Forum: Community Center
I appreciate your response, and I did read the benefits, but I also trust that the price that the pages show me will be correct. They are not.
I'll bet that if anyone is a PRIME member and they go to any clearance page they will NOT see a single price anywhere approaching 50%. What they are shown is wrong.
It seems natural to expect that the price a PRIME member is seeing listed on a page is the price that they will pay. It works that way on all other items and pages that I can see, but Clearance page prices are the exception, and there is no warning anywhere about that.
Thread: When is the next scheduled Clearance Sale? | Forum: Community Center
One thing I found late in the game, just a couple of days before I dropped my PRIME membership, was that the clearance items don't display properly in price. What you see when looking at the price of the item is not what it will be after you put it in your cart. That is when the 55% shows up if you are PRIME. No one ever told me that and I never saw it written down anywhere, so I always kept waiting for that 30% to be boosted upwards as a reward and it only happened during storewide clearance sales..
Today, now that I no longer have PRIME, I see a store-wide PRIME sale. Out of curiosity, does anyone know how often these occur? It's not in the budget for me this month to re-start PRIME (might have been nice to know it was coming, or to have it as a reward while my membership was in place to remind me what I would be missing). If this is only a once or twice a year thing to encourage members to join it would probably be folly to do so after the sale.
Thread: Render Rewards ... Can you use more than one Gift Certificate? | Forum: Community Center
Will you convert gift certificates into store credit?
The renderosity 'gift certificate system' doesn't work nearly as smoothly and seamlessly as the company's store credit set-up.
Whenever I can get a fair amount of store credit I try to combine it with old gift cards that have random amounts on them that people can't otherwise use. I fill in any funding gaps with store credit. Renderosity makes out because I tend to buy more with monies that would otherwise probably be left to the gift card companies.
Thread: EASTER 2018 GRAB BAG | Forum: MarketPlace Customers

Yup my experience was similar to what others said, as a Poser user I did 2 purchases and only got stuff i can't use. I mean I get it, it is hard to tell who is a poser user and who is a daz user.... :/
Actually, on Rendo's side when you add the icon to your basket there's at least two ways to accomplish this. The first is to create a checkbox when you put the GrabBag item into your basket, which is an extra step Rendo has you do anyway. The second is even simpler; to create three grab bag icon choices, only one of which can be put into the basket. They answer the question, "which would you like?", respectively, Poser Only, Daz Only, or Both. I suspect the majority now will be either Daz or Both, with my Poser increasingly becoming more of a minority, but I could be surprised. For more minority items like Bryce or Carrara you could probably leave things as they are such that you may get one of these whether you're Daz or Poser, the bigger divide right now.
At the same time Rendo can now keep accurate track of how many Poser shoppers there are during the sale vs how many Daz buyers there are and how many are both. As a customer, I'd also like to see Rendo share those general results. I'd be interested in seeing what percentage were what type of user during sales like this and how it changes with time.
I'm not particularly upset; It's just this sale didn't pertain to me; it missed the target.
Thread: EASTER 2018 GRAB BAG | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
I received a very nice and generous grabbag item but I was also doubly disappointed. First, since I have Poser software but not DAZ it is an item that won't work for me. Equivalent of not getting a grabbag. Second, since it is a really nice item I'm frustrated that I can't use it.
It was a nice and thoughtful effort, though.

Thread: Want to make V4 fit for OOT Freebie 'RenellaHair' PPro14 GameDeveloper | Forum: New Poser Users Help
Actually I have that book; It's the first one I purchased before I bought Poser. I wanted to read up about the software and see if I felt it was worth investing in. I was looking at it the other day, but for "Memorize" which it did not have. I'll go back and see about the dials. Thanks for the tip about memorize and the way to look at it, Andy.
"Old" books aren't necessarily out of date. For the longest time I kept referring to the Corel 3 book because later versions of the software had all the commands but didn't bother to explain them as it was assumed, I guess, that it was all old and known knowledge. Similar to the software Shade. Shaded 8 had a really good book with tutorials that stlll works to this day. The bad thing about Shade is it is Japanese and when Mirye stopped supporting it I feel it lost a critical ally in the US. You go into the software trying to figure out the commands by yourself.

Yes!, this is along the lines of what I was looking for. Apparently it is easier than I expected because I didn't realize that the coordinates were there but hidden. I thought I'd have to recreate those values and dials and that was what I was asking how to do. I know about the movement for items not related to a figure. I've also done a fair amount of work editing cr2s, and I had started with older hair styles that were designed to save graphics memory and only display in wireframe (think models like egypt hair or sapphire fox, perhaps) by changing the DISPLAYMODE from "Wireframe" to "Use Parent" I could show it more realisticallly in preview mode..
I still don't know how to create dials from scratch and wonder if there are any tutorials on how to do that. For example, once conformed I typically adjust another part such as the neck or head as the body doesn't budge.
Memorize, I'm still not sure exactly what it does even after all this time and why I need it. Is, perhaps, the way to look at it as similar to parenting a prop to a figure except in this case parenting a figure to a figure? Or does memorize make something conform? I notice you didn't say above to conform the hair before jockying it into place.
Thank you for taking the time to write this out!

There are no dials for x,y,z translation. I'd have to create them and put them back in. Scale is pretty much spot on.
The problem is once it's conformed it is out of place, and without the necessary translation dials in an auxiliary place like the head or neck of the hairstyle I cannot do anything.
I know how to take apart the necessary files, but I don't know what to look for and I don't know how to create dials.
By way of example in V4 there is no neck dial to make the neck longer or shorter as is in V3, similarly no abdomen y scale dial, only a general scaling dial that scales all three x,y,z.. Yet someone figured out how to make a "long neck" (Yscale)injection for V4. I'd like to know how to do that for hair styles... and maybe even to add a Y-scale (Long-Short abdomen) for V4. I can't image it is that hard, I just don't know how to do it, or if there are any tricks, scripts or tutorials that address this. I'm not creating new magnets or morphs, I just want to put in a dial for what should already be there.
This is probably really old news for anyone who has made hair in Poser, but I'm thinking all the advice is now for Daz Studio.

I thank you very much. Most of the time I don't mind store credit, because I actually consider it like gold and I wish there were a way to buy it outright when I had discretionalry funds available, but this is one of the few occasions when refund to card was important to me, and I appreciate it.
