Yes, I know the Posettes' backside has a flat spot (she's been sitting too long). (Two flat spots, in fact, one on each cheek) I was referring to the right side of the body at the hip level. Perhaps I should have asked yamato what (exactly) was meant by 'playing around hip'; it wasn't specified whether it was a tex map or a morph target. Big difference 'tween the two, n'est pas? (loving those curves) cheers, dr geep <- always lookin' for new ways 2 do things

Thread: Poser 4 "Real Technical" | Forum: Poser Technical
Pointer trails EATS CPU power. See if you can get along without it. If the CPU is processing mouse movement and then translating it to moving video (pointer trails) and sending that data to the video card, it reduces the time to run the Poser routines. Just a thought.

Thread: Poser 4 "Real Technical" | Forum: Poser Technical
Poser is, to say the least, a very complex piece of software. I believe that sometimes, Poser "trips over its' own feet" because of its' complexity. If you are "feeding" it too many commands (i.e., mouse clicks), too fast, the program doesn't have time to "clean its' own house" and tries to do too many things at the same time. No matter what clock speed processor you have, the CPU can only execute ONE instruction at any given instant. If it is "interrupted" in an awkward place in the program, it "hiccoughs" and winds up in "never-never land" and you get the infamous "Caught Exception C: blah, blah, blah...". I've had very few crashes or lockups and I believe some of the conflicts had to do with the sound card and video card. One significant change I had to make was to configure my video card to 16 bit color. Trying to use 24 bit color created many problems (including funny looking text in some parts of RDS5). Try changing some of these parameters (ONE AT A TIME ! ) and see what happens. Good luck. cheers, dr geep

Allie, your solution works - but - an imported *.dxf object will not accept a texture. I need to be able to texture the objects with a map. Still looking . . . . . .

"Tis a bit cumbersome, but it WORKS! Thank you very much. (because I'm not just working with cubes; some "objects" have 10 or more flat surfaces that need to be aligned) To bushi: No, the captions are not reversed. The above was rendered in Poser; the Poser box prop has the hard edges wilst the imported (RDS5) box renders with soft edges.

Yes! That is the problem, but no real "clean" solution has been presented yet. I'll stay tuned. Thanks, Cage. Appreciate your input. (still waiting) cheers, dr geep <- ???????????????????????????????????????????????

Yeah, BOOK, BOOK, BOOK, BOOK, BOOK, BOOK.......... Seriously: RIP Iky, you have talent, and Ms. Murphy nurtured that talent and helped bring you to where you are today so that, we can enjoy the fruits of your labors. Without your teacher's effort, we would probably not have your art today. My condolences. geep

Thank you Jack. For your "paying attention to details". If more people in positions of responsibility in this world would do that, this world would be alot less messed up than it is. Again, THANK YOU, and - Don't give an inch - stick to you guns. geep
