Thread: What's DAZ Studio for anyway? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Great...your two questions are right: a content manager and a content seller. But you can always use free stuff from here, from Daz and many many others sites.
At the moment the good interaction with others softewares are better in beteween D|S and Bryce 6, its one click and go. But theres a export tool (paid one) to FBX format that almost all softwares can read, or the traditional way: export to OBJ collecting textures and importing into a package that can read OBJ format and MTL (materials for OBJ). Some twiick is needed to getting it work great.
D|S is free but theres are plugins in Daz site that are not free... like the very good Pantomime. But for the paid part theres a good trick: create your scene and render in D|S, post to the Daz galleries and if you are aproved you get a voucher of US$ 25 that you can spend in the Daz site ( I got almost my stuff there this way). Also you can render images with alpha channel and use it to compose others images in programs like Photoshop or Photo Impact or even on free like Artweaver and Gimp.

D|S its a great alternative to paied Poser. I used it a lot now to create my scenes, compose my characters, export then as OBJ to use in Lightwave or Carrara.

Thread: A Newbie Question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
First, get the latest version Daz Studio at daz3d.com its free.
Vic3 work on both programs: Daz Studio and Poser, and they do almost the same thing, so DS is free and Poser dont.
To know how to work with both programs look here a RO for basic tutorials or the Daz site has some good ones.
You need to understand a little about how to load models, conform cloth and propers. At Daz you can get others free stuff too.

Thread: Daz studio Bryce 6.1 and Poser | Forum: DAZ|Studio
E-frontier no longer support your SDK to third part software, so some problems with Poser7 is expected and will not be corrected. So this way cloth and hair room theres no support for Poser7.

Yes... global illumination its a must to get a better look at Dystopia... I used it in my scene in Carrara, but I get a 1H 18 min render time to this image...

Hi I did a test render in Carrara yesterday... its very cool but need some changes in the surfaces (I didnt try it in Poser or Daz Studio). The windows dont have a reflection and the lights dont have a glow channel...so with a little work in the textures you can get a cool result:

Thread: PLEASE HELP | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Yes, unzip your file then look at it, so you can put in rigt place. Sometimes when we get free stuff they come only with the files and no folder structure, then you need to know where go the files with that extension.

Thread: PLEASE HELP | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Here we go: unzip your file to a directory. You will find a directory called "Runtime" this directory have the basic structure for your files:
Geometries - the objects itself
Textures - the images for the textures
Libraries - where are all your stuff, divided in this way:
Camera - your cameras settings go here (.CM2 files)
Character - persons, hair, cloths and others go here (.CR2 files)
Face - expressions and some morphs here (.FC2 files)
Hair - hair files (.HR2 files)
Hand - hand poses (.HD2 files)
Light - light setups (.LT2 files)
Materials - some surface settings for Poser 5 and latter (.MT5 ou .MT6 files)
Pose - texture settings and poses itself (.PZ2 files)
Props - acessories (.PP2 files)
The next part is where to put this files... well here I use a directory called MyColletion and inside go the basic directories (geometries, textures and libraries), so this is my Runtime directory. You dont need to use a directory with this name, or you can put it in the DazSutdio Content folder. The problem here is when you want to backup your files you need to remember where as these files, so I use one directory for everything.
I hope this can help you now.
