Hello Phil
Seems such a long time ago since a certain Art Gallery came up against a certain Crystal Palace in a certain competition on this noble parish!
Must be years since I last used Bryce and surfing the net, as you do, logged on to 'Rosity to see who's still about and hey presto! your monica comes up on the first Forum page. I have attempted one or two images the last few days and find I have l completely lost the ability to recall which buttons to press, possibley due to senile dementia (which I share with the Welshman via ancestral genes), so it's going to take a year or two to get back in the swing. I never was very productive.
Inspiration was totally lost about three years ago when I got divorced after a thirty year marriage, having to sell the house (and split the money) and find somewhere else to live. Thankfully, at the time, I was given refuge, and the use of the sofa by a good friend who lived in a council flat (remember those?). Unfortunately, he upped and died on me three months later from just about every disease known to affect the chest. Hasn't been too glorious since either, I now have more than a nodding familiarity with the staff at the crematorium!
Still, I may be over the worst of it if all I have to worry about now is Bryce render times.
See you around......................Dennis
Thread: UNDER WATER SCENE SHH--#+(&$@"--"ITTTT--@!!... | Forum: Bryce
Attached Link: http://www.3dart4u.com
To get started may like to download menno's underwater package. This contains a water material (very good as a volume or surface material) and a sky for use with an underwater scene. Adjust the fog and haze as they are fairly heavy in the default to suit your picture.Available from:
http://www.3dart4u.com
Go to downloads and click on the whale picture
Hope this may be useful.....Dennis
Thread: Apophysis 2.03c has been released | Forum: Fractals
Damn, I've only been using Apophysis for three weeks and they've gone and upgraded it already!!! I'm on my way to the download station, thanks for the heads-up. Dennis

I've no idea what is going on with your account but people do get attacked by keyloggers that record key strokes and report back to their masters, usually internet bank accounts passwords etc., I never type a password or address while on the internet. I always use Windows onscreen keyboard. Programs/Accessories/Accessibility/On-Screen Keyboard. I don't know if any crap exists that's capable of logging mouse clicks and then deciphering passwords etc., but I would be very surprised if there was. Takes a little bit more trouble but it's another freebie level of security. Dennis
Thread: 'Migration' - Work in Progress for comment please. | Forum: Fractals
fractalinda >> Taken your points and acted on them in the next version. Thank you for your imput. Eveline >> Yes, I know about the Gallery but I posted here in the hope of getting some feedback before finally posting in the Gallery. If the pictures rubbish I'd like to know before putting it up for criticism! However, as I've said in a previous thread here, the 'post your Work in Progress in the Forum' system (where community members can make helpful comments) seems to have been consigned to the past. I find it very useful, the first fractal I did was re-designed following helpful comments from more experienced artists in the forum, which resulted in a much better picture. Mags >> Thank you for making a comment on another of my pictures. I think I've addressed most of your points and I have toned the green down to blue!! The finished picture can be viewed here............ http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1127132&Start=1&Sectionid=30&filter_genre_id=0&WhatsNew=Yes Dennis
Thread: FWW delayed because... | Forum: Fractals
I like surprises too but being new here everything is a bit of a surprise, a pleasant one though. My best wishes to you and everybody here at Fractals for a splendid new year. Dennis
Thread: Apophysis | Forum: Fractals
Hi Gisella I'm new too and I really like your pictures, particularly the bottom right hand one - wispy tail feathers and the one above it, is there a pheasant in there somewhere? Keep it up. Dennis
Thread: Winterwonderland | Forum: Fractals
Hello everybody, Can I first say thanks to all have posted in this thread with comments and advice, it is very encouraging. tresamie >> I do have a Bryce Gallery and have even won a couple of awards for my efforts but I very rarely post WIPs in the forum these days. I've had my fair share of criticism most of which is well meant and helpful. But so many people over there seem to only want syncophantic plaudits from a legion of 'do-gooders' who do nothing but hold that person back in his/her developement as an artist. Why should anyone improve or further experiment if every picture produced, being almost identical to the last one, still enjoys cries of 'awesome image', 'wonderfull colours', 'your best yet', etc., etc., O.K. rant over - I think we agree on this. Mags >> I am surprised that the WIP-in-Forum format is not more widely used over here. As a beginner with Apophysis I greatly appreciate imput from experienced users of my use of fracals and welcomed the suggestions put forward for 'Winterwonderland'. To trawl through the Gallery and other links provided, including yours, has been an eye-opener for me concerning fractals. However, having said that I don't think 'Winterw...' would have been the same if I'd done research first, I came to Apophysis fresh as a daisy without preconceived notions of what can or should be done with the application, which I think helped. Mags, I don't think you got it wrong at all, it just seems that the practise of putting WIPs for comment prior to Gallery posting has gone by the board for now. Well, keep an eye on the Forum as I'm just about ready to post my 'fishy' picture for comment. Qualien >> I think I've covered most of your comments but even though I've already posted the picture in the Gallery [a few more votes needed for a debut listing in the HOT 20 with a debut picture! :)] I will make the changes you have suggested and will report back. It is very difficult to be entirely self-critical after working on a picture for hours on end, you tend not to see the obvious but which is perfectly obvious to another eye. QED put a WIP up for comments. Thank you. leanndra >> After just one picture leanndra has added me to her favourite artist's list. I am both flabbergasted and honoured. Your obviously too kind for an old man with a penchant for doodling. Thank you. Dennis

Thread: New to this forum - advice please | Forum: Fractals
Rykk >> Thanks for the explanation for Barry Bonds and his cream. By way of a coincidence Art Spander wrote in the Daily Telegraph this morning when reporting the 'American View' of sport in America during 2005, and I quote.......... "Barry Bonds, the San Francisco Giants outfielder mired in the BALCO controversy, as well as into the record books, had his own vanishing act. Accussed of steroid use, and in full denial, Bonds missed all but the last three weeks of the season due to knee surgery. Some conspiracy theorists suggested it was an easy way to avoid suspension, but Bonds' return in September, and his five home runs that left him six behind Babe Ruth's total of 714 disproved the idea" I suppose in Biblical terms he was 'sore afraid' of losing, so sore in fact that he had to put some cream on it!!! I've finished the winter scene (I hope) and will post the WIP in a new thread. ligt >> Thank you very much for the Title. I've decided to call it 'Winterwonderland' Dennis
Thread: New to this forum - advice please | Forum: Fractals
Rykk >> thanks for your comments. A brickbat is 'blunt criticism', but who is Barry Bonds and where does the cream come in? Quite agree about the moon reflection, will change that. Wasn't altogether happy with the cloud formation so will juggle with that a bit as well. ligt > thank you for your comments also. Your suggestion for a few stars is well founded and well observed - will see what I can come up with. Will post another WIP before it goes in my Gallery. Thanks again for your help. Dennis

Thread: Bryce October 2005 Challenge - VOTE HERE OR DIE !!!!!!!!!! | Forum: Bryce
Grind - 3 points MrStuzzy - 2 points Olicek - 1 point Unfortunately 'candat' still has two entries so it's pointless putting in a vote for this artist and was the resolution problem with Pidjy's picture sorted? Dennisld
Thread: HELP! I've lost Bryce5.5 | Forum: Bryce
If you do a Google search for "Bryce 5.5.exe entry point not found" you'll get some suggestions such as....... 'Did you also download Daz Studio? This error happens when that is done, typically. Apparently there is a missing entry in the dzcore.dll which fails to open B5.5.What you need to do to fix it is to reload DS 23.1 and Bryce 5.5 will open with no problem. There is a fix being worked on now so you may want to check the forums on Daz. Download 23.1 here (http://www.daz3d.com/studio/#download'
Thread: looking for a rubber pant / tree - but didn`t find | Forum: Bryce
Hi, Try www.3dcafe.com and look up plants and trees in the free models section. Click to view thumbnails and near the bottom you will find some plants that look very similar to rubber plants although not listed as such. To compare do a Google picture search for 'rubber plant' and you may find one at 3dcafe that is suitable for your needs. As you say, they have been very popular in the past, they can survive with little care and next to no light - viz. plant stand in the hall next to the reseptacle for gamps was always a good place. Hope this helps. Dennis
