Quite some time (years,cough) ago, I posted to a couple of the more professional sites, with what I thought was a valiant effort at the time. I got my ass handed to me on a silver platter with some very harsh critique, almost in the manner of "what are you doing here" kind of thing. I made a decision then, and to this day I will not critique anyones work unless they specifically ask me to. Some people don't want the insight of others even if it is coming from purely technical standpoint. Some people ask for help because they know there is that "Something" missing from their work. They "want to", and eventually "will" advance their skills and quality through tenacity. Some people use this as a social hobby, and have all their favorite friends acknowledge their existense.
My only pet peeve is genre crossovers, but I'm not going into that today.
All in all, I learn which artists here at Renderosity I enjoy checking out, and sometimes comment. Those which fall into the Happy Hobbyist category, I don't open, and spend my time learning and appreciating art from Striving hobby artists and more so from the semi to Professional group.

I miss a lot of those guys, and not even for just for their postings, but also the info and trials and tribulations they went through.
That list is a HUGE amount of Wisdom and talent. WTG Pal
I do occasionally go through my Fav's list, which has most of those. The inspiration is priceless.

Another option that works well for me is using "Selet/Color Range", there you can adjust the fuzziness of the selection manually. If there are still artifacts, I hit the quick mask button at the bottom of the tool panel, zoom in, brush out what I don't want with a NEG(black brush), click back on the Quickmask button and voila, the selection is precise.

Your thumbnail is in place of the Image, although the File upload has your full scaled image.
TheBryster has this months challenge, If he can't get to it today, I'll switch them and approve it for you. (the file specs are fine)

Save the file in it's default state (size etc) then go to:
(File / Render toDisk... / in the sub screen, type in the size and resolution you want )
Sub menu comes up to name the file/format/and folder where you want it.
I always rename the new file to define its larger size.
I do not have Version 7, only 6, though I'm sure it;s the same.
p.s. also remember that any mask or dof renders will need the same procedure.
