Thread: Render size help Vue 8? | Forum: Vue
Windows 7 64 bit
Core Quad Q9300
only 4 GBÂ RAM
Geforce 8800 GT
Vue 8 complete, resolution 6000x4500, render runs OK (veery slowly, but it works). However, when I hit render button, Vue8.eon process took 1,4 GB of memory, now after 2% it is on 3,1GB and still grows, so it is possible that it will crash in a few minutes (or hours).
As far as I know, in 32 bit system any process can use max 2 GB of RAM, so if you switch to 64 bit, I´m sure it helps. Amount of RAM is not main problem IMHO.

Thread: OGLE - GOOGLE - OPENGL TUT | Forum: Bryce
Here are some things I probably missed:
1., For me it works only when I have both OpenGL libraries in Google directory:
2., Also note that sometimes you need press ctrl+shift+a several times, because it doesnt react always.
3., Make sure that your Google installation runs in OpenGL mode and not in DirectX ;)
If this doesnt help, then I really dont know. Only watch official forum.

Thread: Instant Cityscape? | Forum: Bryce
Hi all,
Im really surprised, because I didnt expect so many reactions to my post.
Marc asked me about tutorial, but I think it is not needed, here is a lot of interesting infos: http://ogle.eyebeamresearch.org/blog
so just a few my experiences:
1., How to install is not problem, instructions at:
http://ogle.eyebeamresearch.org/readme are OK, problem is it doesnt work for many users (Google wont start). Probably because of complicated settings in config files.
Fortunatelly, some good soul posted his config file in forum at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=533374 and it worked for me.
I hope its still there: http://rapidshare.de/files/12465613/Google_Earth.zip.html.
There are 2 files, which have to be copied into Gooogle Earth directory.
2., Start Google Earth, below main window uncheck everything except buildings and terrain. Then find some nice place with buildings, zoom it as you like and press ctrl+shift+a. It is combination chosen by author of config file, it can be changed.
3., After that you should have in Google directory file ogle.obj. It is 3D model of your Google screen. In directory called Frame_something are png images that should be texture maps for model (as I read somewhere) but I didnt tested it.
4., I imported model into Cinema 4D for small corrections.
Be aware, model is very small so it needs to be dramatically resized. I dont know how it works in other 3D applications, but in Cinema4D I have a lot of strange connections between points and polygons, so I use Optimize function for every part of model. Of course you can delete unwanted parts.
Then is model ready for use in any program that accepts obj. files.
P.S. Just now tested: I thought that only buildings can be exported, but on Grand canyon it works too, unfortunatelly mesh is in very low resolution.
Looking forward to your creations and excuse my english :)

Hmmm, I stole whole Manhattan :) Youre right, there can be again neverending discussion about copyright...I found it interesting from technical point of view

Ohhh, no, it wasnt my intention :). Anyway, I think this is more curiosity than really useful thing :) (in this state of development)

Thread: Why can't Poser 6 import 3ds files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I cant check it right now, but friend (who is selling some models here at Renderosity so I suppose he knows what he tells) wrote me this sentence: Poser can not import 3DS objects with more than 11000 faces. Maybe somebody could test it.
