[Raindroptheelf]Maybe Poser started it off but Daz took it a whole lot further in their development of the still FREE software Daz3d.[/quote]
FREE (not counting the numerous add-ons to get it's functionality near what Poser has out of the box... And D|S wasn't always free.
Smith Micro had their chance to go hand in hand with Daz3d but I guess they do not really want to commit to it as they do not only sell Poser...
Not quite. The Poser Team decided not to integrate Genesis into Poser for the same reason Daz Studio exists: They didn't want to be tied to the whims, mercy, and fate of another company's program.
If they had accepted, then every time D|S and Genesis got an "under-the-hood" update, then the Poser Team would have had to divert people from working on other Poser updates, or the next version of Poser, in order to put out a patch for Poser that incorporated those updates; because not doing so would tick people off, though with a side-effect of delaying the release of the next proper Poser update/version. And given that Poser generally has a (somewhat) set release schedule, with program updates only when they get enough fixes done, and D|S seems to have a "whenever Daz3d feels like it" update schedule, there would be conflicts between updating. Not to mention whether Daz would give the Poser team enough time to implement their own update before releasing a D|S one.
where Daz3d is committed to stay exciting, develop and bring out characters that will always be exciting to work with.
I disagree, Daz is all about recycling content. Just look at how many different versions of a "Morphing Fantasy Dress" there are (not counting texture sets) in the Daz store.
I remember when I first started with Daz Studio * before I gone Poser and later back Daz Studio * we had the same dilemma. No one was making things to use in Daz Studio, only a few things Studio came with and we had to convert skins of V3 to look better in Studio.
The difference then was that, aside from materials, the majority of Poser content loads, and works, as is inside D|S. From what I've heard, even with the DSON importer, the same cannot be said for moving D|S content to Poser. So it wasn't a big deal if people weren't making D|S-specific content, as the people using D|S could still use it with some tweaking.
But those people making D|S-specific content aren't making anything that Poser users can use properly. And many won't bother with DSON, meaning that they can't use it at all; or they have to put far more effort into getting it to work in Poser (and sometimes jumping through hoops is needed even with the DSON importer).

Thread: Has Renderosity Been Hacked? Check your credit cards | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
KristiS posted at 7:12AM Tue, 13 December 2016 - #4291989
We did have trouble in the past and we upped everything to the highest security. We do not store credit card information on our servers and we have found a lot of the ones with the trouble have their card stored on Daz's site for the monthly club and or purchases they made elsewhere.
Not storing card information didn't prevent the last breach, so what makes you think that hackers haven't developed tools to overcome your "highest security" (nothing on the internet is 100% secure), and done something similar to last time?
Trying to pass the blame is rather unprofessional, and does nothing to comfort affected individuals. A better response would simply state you don't believe the site was hacked, but will be looking into the matter to find out.

Thread: Tutorial On | Forum: Community Center
I've been around long enough to see both DAZ3D and RuntimeDNA change their site's multiple times, never needed a tutorial to figure out those new layouts. Hell, I've never needed a tutorial to figure out how to navigate a website I've never used before either.
If Renderosity really needs one, then maybe Renderosity needs another site "upgrade" (you can call it an upgrade, I'll call it a downgraded mess), focused on USABILITY and EASE OF NAVIGATION.
The sentiment of trying to help is appreciated, but it's something that should NEVER have needed to be considered.
Sadly, TPTB at Renderosity have a history (I'd show at least one example, but I can't seem to find any of my posts prior to this site "upgrade" under my Forum Stats) of giving us patronizing "Try it, we know you'll love it once you get used to it" responses (every unwelcome update, always the same response; it's like a broken record), and a few major issues get addressed, but precious little else, and we're just expected to shut up and "enjoy" ourselves.
Though I must congratulate Renderosity on one thing: I've been posting again after having stopped when the last Forum borkening made me decide to minimize my time here. It won't last though, if the site continues on as it is, I won't be posting again. And once I've cleared out my wishlist, either through purchasing or deciding I don't need something, I'll drop this site like a rancid corpse.

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity
No, the site won't be fixed, or rolled back (when has that ever happened?), and the patching will only barely restore lost functionality/usability.
As usual, TPTB are going to continue going full steam ahead, damn the torpedoes, and claim that everything's fine. It probably wouldn't be much work to find an admin post containing the phrase "try it, we're sure you'll grow to love it" or something almost exactly like that, posted after this site change.
Whoever is responsible for this site layout needs to be drug out into the street and shot, and their corpse used as an example for their replacement not to fuck things up this badly again.

Thread: go to the last page of a thread link, please bring back the feature | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is what I see when looking at the forum pages. Note how the EZMat page doesn't lost more than 3 pages (and I just took this screenshot). And the Feature Requests for Poser doesn't list any additional pages.
Clearly, something isn't working the same for everyone.

It was available at DAZ, though it doesn't seem to be there anymore. If you purchased it, you should still be able to download it.

Thread: Remove Victoria 4.2 files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The old .exe installers do check for poser.exe if you choose Poser as the target application - it's best to get the most current version, which is in a zip (and can be installed manually or with the DAZ Install Manager) though choosing DAZ Studio as the target application will also get around the check for a Poser.exe (and doesn't make any difference to the files installed).
Which has always been an issue for Poser Pro version users, because the program doesn't create a poser.exe. Another way to get around that is to create a new text document in the runtime, name it poser, and with "show file extensions" checked, change the file extension to .exe.

Thread: Forum & Contest Modules Changes | Forum: Community Center
Are we not supposed to see (or navigate to) all the pages in the thread from the main forum section anymore?
This thread has two pages at the time of this post, but I have to go into the thread to be able to navigate to the second one.
In the Poser forum, the thread "Possible Poser 10/PP2014 Bugs" has navigation for the first 2 pages in the forum section, and is actually 8 pages long.
Kind of makes navigating more difficult, and flies in the face of the ideal of "ease of use."

There is so much gone wrong with this downgrade to the forum that it is now all but useless to me. Merry Christmas Vilters. I'll come back next year to see if they got it fixed by then. Chances are the 4 year old who "fixed" everything will be going home for American Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years so I don't expect functional changes happening before then.
You're more optimistic than I am.
Until the next forum change in a few years, we're going to be stuck with this, because that's how Renderosity operates. They've stopped paying any attention to the Marketplace feedback thread, and I predict that by the end of November the Forum feedback thread will be similarly ignored, with nothing "fixed".

I don't suppose we could get a link to the latest post in a thread added?
It's really annoying to have to scroll down an entire page just to see that there's been one new post.
It can't be too hard to program, since just about every other forum on the internet has that feature...

Quote - First they came out with bones in breasts to improve rigging.
Well, I asked all the females I know, but none has bones in her breasts. LOL.
Really? Could you be any more a troll?
Hair in real life doesn't have any bones, but Poser's conforming hair does. You know full well what Poser's "bones" are and what they're for.
Until/Unless Poser gets softbody dynamics and/or jiggle physics, bones and morphs are the only methods available to make breasts into anything more than implant balloons.

Thread: Problem in the Fitting Room with M4-K4 mixed models | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - forgive me, maybe there was a michael 4 loaded and when I load other michael , poser named it by default, I know, I deserve the death penalty for it , but please , forgive me for this mortal sin.
We can now return to the original question Please
Okay, no need to get so defensive.
It seems that (the naming) is DAZ's fault.
For Victoria 4, she shows up under the Figure name as "Victoria4" with subsequent figures being "Victoria4 1" and so on.
But, with Michael 4, he shows up as "Michael 4" (note the space), and subsequent figures get a higher number, like "Michael 5" and "Michael 6".
Now, with the advent of the Michael 5 morph for Genesis existing, it's possible (I haven't bothered with Genesis so I don't know for certain) that when you import the Genesis figure with the Michael 5 morph that it shows up as "Michael 5."
So, given that, it should be obvious that people though you were mistakenly using Michael 5 (likely with the Michael 4 morphs) instead of the actual Michael 4 figure.
I appologize if it seemed like I was attacking you, my intent was only to try to help.
