Hey. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. My image somehow didn't make it. I thought it was uploaded; but was told by one of the mods that they never got it. I did the uploading around 12:40 the night before deadline. I really had a good one. Oh well, maybe I'll share it with everyone in one of the galleries.

Hey there Polartech. It's been a long time man. Yes. I definately want him to work with Mimic. I will also need a beta tester (you). I'm working my butt off on this one. I could use some help also with going through the stages of selling it here at the store. This will be my first attempt. I definately want him to work with Mimic.

I just got it the other day. It's a cool little program that make things very simple when it comes to modeling real-world objects. I don't think it's really all that great for creating humans that you want to animate though. It's better to use it for stand-in purposes or objects that don't require a lot of movement. You would have to modify the mesh to make it animatable. You would be better off creating your own human mesh the good-old-fashioned way.

I'm using XL 6. I checked the tutorial and it helped a lot. The only problem is the eyebrows. They're still not mapped right. Heck. I painted eyebrows on the model with Deep Paint; but it still mapped wrong. Thanks for your earlier response!!!
Thread: Lightwave, Poser, and Global Illumination | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Trust me. You can't get lighting like that in Bryce. Global illumination gives images that soft, realistic look. I've done similar renderings in Max with the skydome script. I have to say Lightwave kicks @$$ with GI. Great job Darth! :)

I respect your input. Thanks for taking the time to tell me what you think. It's nice to get some honost feedback. Later :)

Hey. If you don't like this method, don't use it. I think the hair for Poser (and using transmapping) looks awful. I'm willing to take a decrease in performance (which there isn't much for me). Look at Max with Shag Hair. Rendering can slow down to a crawl e.g. a drop in performance; but it's Digimaiton's top selling plugin. Realism is what many of us are going for. Easier and less time consuming isn't always the best way to go. WE ARE ARTISTS. RIGHT?

I can understand your concerns. The hair was created in Max with Shag Hair and converted into geometry. The Hair took about 30 seconds to import into Poser. There were no crashes with this file, and everything worked out great. Of course, I was on a Pentium 500 with 256 Megs of RAM. So, slower machines I just don't know. The file is rather large. 10 Megs to be exact. Remember, this is a work in progress. I still have a lot of work to do. Animaitons are NOT impossible. This head of hear acted like any other prop in a Poser animaiton. Not much slow down. Rendering takes a little longer; but that's really it. One possibility, if you're afraid to use so much hair, is to use a smaller amount of hair and paint hair on the texture map itself (the character's tex. map.) This would be ideal for a fuller-looking head of hair and increase workflow with animaiton. Stills would be no problem. :)

Sure, I could import hair with 600,000 faces; but I want to see how much I can get out of the hair with as little as possible. One possibility is to use a smaller amount of hair and paint hair on the texture map itself (the character's tex. map.) This would be ideal for a fuller-looking head of hair. Oh well, I'll keep you guys up to date.
Thread: Sci-Fi Head Pack Coming Soon! :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes. I modeled the head from scratch in Max 3.1 and then touched it up in Z-Brush (Great sculpting tool by the way). The textures were done with Deep Paint 3D and Texture Weapons. I will make mophs for all three heads. One has all the phonemes. I'll probably release the basic heads and textures first allowing people to come up with their own combos. I'll release the MT's at a later date. Bloodsong---I haven't heard of jeff h's head switching technique. It sounds very interesting. :)

Don't know were I conjured this fellow up from. That's what I love about 3D. You can create anything that comes out of your imagination. :)

bloodsong: Quickdirt is a new plugin from Digimation for Max. It applies dirt to your 3d objects. It adds a realistic touch. It's a lot like DirtyReyes by Infografica. The problem with 3D is that it's too clean. The real world is full of dust and grime. This plugin attempts to make 3D more natural.

Tribe: I had to go through the process of applying the physique modifier in Character Studio 2.2 (Plugin for 3D Studio Max 3.1) for me to pose him. That took some time to get things working just right. Attaching the mesh to a biped can sometimes take days. I wish I could have slapped the poser in there and attached the head; but life and technology aren't that easy. The reason I'm using Character Studio and Max is because I'm animating him along with many others for a possible series on my website. Character Studio is best for animation.
