HELP!!!
I can't even get or access the updates for Poser 6. This is just so wrong!!! Do I have any options? You can enter your serial number, but you'll never get that reply email or your download.
I know - this only happens to paying customers.
They really have very serious issues! Â Poor Poser.

I think Daz should just dump that silly old D|S studio and purchase Poser - then they can add build on that - I'm sure Daz would be able to address the problems better. Oh - note to Daz! I don't approve of electronic manuals. If exCL can still do it - you can to. That is soooo cheap!
Anyone that's every fought a battle in a fighter jet cockpit appreciates the the natural view of the environment - many times if a enemy fighter buzzes by your cockpit, you're lost as to his position. When you finally figure out his position, he's already left or shot you down.Â
That said, I really appreciate using a physical manual - not a dumb 2D flat screen manual without the benefit of orientation -that's so 2nd century!

The worst thing about Poser is.... you'll find derivatives of your work - sooner or later. That is... if you paint Mona Lisa (V3) - you'll see some other folks using it as well... making your picture of V3 worth less or worthless - whichever is less.
The best bet is using rare or unrecognized models that people haven't seen it. That would give a work more prestige... but if everyone has it... your render is useless and a waste of time.
For this reason, Renderosity continues to thrive on new contents.

Ha! Don't hold your breath!Â
By the way, did they like... fire CL or something? Lately, exCL isn't friendly or responsive. I tried to DL the Anime Demo by registering for a link. Needless to say that didn't happen. Wrote them a few times about it... hmmmm hasn't freeze over yet either.
What's up with that anyway? I don't really care much for D|S studio anyway - wouldn't spend a cent on it if it was free. I wished Daz had bought Poser from day one. Things would have been so much better.

Opps! I did buy Poser 6. I must be slipping. Yeah, it's still on the shelf in box. Rehab?
Thread: Added up all my Poser content expenses...Owtch! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I went on two buying sprees in one year... I spent well over $1,000. One of which was over $1,600. Had to go rehab and now my spending is $0.00.
I was able to do that because I'm sooo backed up with content, it's a shame. Some are still NEW and never been opened!

Well, I wish Poser & D|S was compatible. Someone once said, it can't be because D|S has so much more. When I speak of compatibility, I speak of file types and directory structure. Why is it that a "texture-converter" such a big seller? Likewise, people may have the need to convert from one format to the other. And I'm sure, they'd rather NOT have to convert them and reconvert them again. Then, there's more fine tuning, as if pose-tuning isn't enough. When M$ word had to play from behind, it had to look up to WordPerfect and support all the file formats that were popular. Today, Word is so big that it supports no one - besides, who uses WordPerfect these days? Any file can be compatible, but you might not gain or have access to all features (it's just 1s and 0s). At any rate, Dz has been contacting me to update my files. As far as I'm concerned, I just have too many to manage. In fact, I still have files that are new - never been opened or used - ever. Likewise, I've also stopped purchasing - because I don't think I'm going to get around to using them anytime soon. With that said, having separate Poser and D|S only files - can only add to chaos. But Poser 6 does look interesting and I might just get it to tinker with.

As with all time expiration software, even if you have uninstalled the product, small trace files still reside on your PC. These secret files do nothing but loiter around your PC hard drive in hidden location and/or registry entries. The really smart ones lie outside of your OS (boot sector region) so you can't delete them. They store information about what you installed, when you installed it, how long you installed it and how many times you tried to run your expired software, etc. When I pay over $2,000 for a PC, I happen to own every inch of it. So I expect these spyware files to pay RENT or get EVICTED. And that's just the beauty of being a programmer.

Consider the $499 iPod that ran for a limited time (only 18 months) and then you had to throw them away. The rechargeable battery was sealed inside and was not user replaceable. But if you accidentally overcharged the battery for too long, you might find out really fast how 18 months can fly by. The only answer was to cough up another $499 to buy a new one (a corporate get rich quick scheme)... until several lawsuits later, Apple changed course and started offering a $99 replacement battery. Just mail in your iPod + $99 plus shipping and whenever we feel like, we'll mail it back to you with a new battery. A rechargeable battry should cost no more than $40... but with Apple, you pay extra for the apples.
Thread: Athlon 64 -XP Pro-- Any Poser P4PP or P5 issues? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, right now AMD is a leader because Intel is using AMD 64 instruction set (and hence Win64 will run on both A64 and P64). So while Dell and others might not want to embrace or sell AMD A64s, they will just have to sell them anyway under the Intel brand name. As Intel and AMD move to 64bits, I'm sure D|S and Poser will follow or get left in the dust. As for AMD, believe it or not, now's a good time to start working on A128-64-32. Why? Well, by the time they get around to it (seeing that it might take years to develope), there might be a Windows128 OS ready. All you really need are 128bit extensions to crunch, move or manipulate data faster. It's not a far fetch idea... the Playstation 2 uses a 128bit CPU if I'm not mistaken.

Time is just too short and valuable to be working on things that will expire or will run for a limited time. If I choose to build a scene, I might take a break for awhile (other projects) and come back later to find all my hard work and creativity has expired.... but to each his own.

I doubt CL is looking into A64. A few years ago a CL tech told us that there was something with AMDs... people been buying them because they were cheap but a lot of people were complaining about problems with AMD & Poser. He strongly recommend us going with Intel. But as with P5, most of its problem was related to bad codes and bugs and hence, several service releases. As a programmer, I would have broken down P5 into several apps... such as a Render Studio, Poser Room, Face Salon, Clothes Factory and so on. That way, one bug won't affect other parts of the application. Adding 64bit extension would be cheaper, easier and faster than rewriting the entire application. I don't think CL can commit to such a task at this time.... it's just a feeling. A lot of people in high places don't give AMD credit and it's kind of shuned (as in Dell) but if we look at the history of Gateway computers.... A few years back when people were buying lots of PCs, Dell got a huge surplus. However, there wasn't much left for the likes of Gateway.... who said "Never Again" and added AMD to its roster big time (just in case). Later on, Gateway wanted to cut cost and make a profit and dropped AMD totally (it's always cheaper to build one motherboard than two). With AMD gone, Gateway still didn't fair any better and decided to buy a smaller PC company that was making a lot more money than they were doing. Envy? This company is called eMachine who by the way, bet on AMD and was doing surpisingly well with their premiere Athlon64 machines! In fact, a few weeks ago I asked emachine about a A64 3200+ laptop and why we couldn't get their latest model. The company replied that they realize their products are in high demand when they just can't keep them in stock.

We are running A64 on Asus K8T800 Delux (in turbo mode), Gainward 256MB DDR AGP 8X, 1 GB DDR 400 (512 x 2), XP Pro, Maxtor 250GB HD x 2, Poser 5 SR 4.1... still, no problems. I doubt Daz would ship D|S for A64 until Intel comes out with their version. On an older Athlon XP, we noticed Poser 5 runs faster on 1GB compared to 512MB. When we increase the ram to 1.5GB (512MB x 3), the speed did not increase. In fact, it slowed down just a tad. In the test, P5 used as much as 99.5% of the physical RAM (using Norton system work utility) during very large renders. Of course XP base programs were also using the ram at that time. P5 did not crash even at the maximum render resolution. It's sad though... PC are way faster than they were back in the day. Infact, what we really have now is a ultra fast supercomputer. But add a dozen V3 figures in a scene and watch it crawl like a baby. And if you want to see time stand still, try that with D|S.

I understand the 3700+ should be here by June...but it's sad they don't offer the FX53 in a notebook. I think they need to drop the reg memory for the dual channel controller. We never buy Intel but I might be tempted to get a dual core Pentium if it's twice as fast as a single core cpu... but I doubt it.

I can't imagine paying that price and then getting an e-manual. Printed books are Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better to learn from... especially when you have a problem or run into one. Thanks.
