Steve, I have tried your method but it seems very time consuming and cumbersome, do to the fact that I usually have very large architectural models. I will try the Deep Exploration route and see what happens. I will let you know. Thanks very much for the answers though.
Thread: Importing to Vue 4 Pro | Forum: Vue
Thanks for the advice is there a trial version of Deep Exploration available? I tried exporting as 3DS and OBJ files into Vue but always loose a lot of modeling and/or mat/mapping features.

Yes but you loose a lot of info when exporting as a 3DS file from Max. If Max is a dead end which program is a good one for modeling and exporting to Vue? Since Vue does not have much in the form of modeling tools. Thanks

You're saying export to Poser then from Poser to Vue? Will I retain all materials and maps?

That's what I thought...Could there be any tricks to achieve the same thing or I just have to eyeball it?

I'm trying the export to .Obj plugin. Seems to work very well as far as the objects and their placement location. I dont seem to export the material textures and aligment. Can I export material with the obj as you can with 3DS? Thanks again
Thread: Vue 4 Pro new plant creation | Forum: Vue
But it can be done... I just need a Vue plant that has empty subsets in both the leaf and trunk subsets in the plant editor . Or is there a way to create an empty subset?
Thread: Vue 4 Pro new plant creation | Forum: Vue
That tutorial only shows again how to replace one leaf for another. The question is how to add an empty subset in the plant editor for both trunk/stems and leaf/petals pull down menus. I will have to find a vue plant that has both empty subsets in the leafs and trunk pull down menus. Any one know of one? Primrose has empty ones in the Leaf pull down but not in Trunk....;( Thanks

It seems like the plant editor can only exchange one leaf (bitmap) type for another and not be able to add a new one. Either I get a plant with all flowers or all leaves. Is that true?
Thread: Vue purchased plants and Vue 4 Pro | Forum: Vue
I purchased the plants when I was using Vue 3, so it means I have to use the ones in Vue Pro CD. Thanks
Thread: Importing from 3dMax or 3DViz to Vue 4 Pro | Forum: Vue
If you select your option 1 above, when you attach all objects option ....how do you then assign materials? Best method? I'm not sure I understand option 2 above. Please explain or point to a tutorial. Thanks

Basicly you still have to export/import the old fashion way. The problem is when you map in your Vue model and say you changed your Max model midpoint, when you re-import to Vue you still have to re-map your re-imported geometry correct? I guess I was hoping for some linkage similar to Autocad and 3D Viz.

There must be a seeting either in ADT or Viz that needs to be adjusted or turn off when exporting to 3Ds that's causing it.

Thread: Importing from 3dMax or 3DViz to Vue 4 Pro | Forum: Vue
I'll try those. I am working on a project in 3d Autodesk Viz04 where I have a linked ADT03 model in it. When I export my model as a 3DS file and import it either in Vue 4 Pro or back into Viz or Max I get all the objects misplaced. There must be a way to bind or override some coordinates or something so objects stay with the same location to each other when exported. Thanks
