i know small parts of 'getting around' in several apps., i haven't spent enough time in just one, to learn as much as i should/can. i don't know how long you have been trying to learn how to do stuff in poser/shade, but maybe in the modelling aspect, if you could get your head around something simpler like wings3d you could see how the process developes. things like rhino and blender have so many buttons, it confuses me, too. i was noodling around a 30 day demo of modo[ a lightwave brreak away i suspect...; ^] and it seemed more familiar than shade, i own lightwave, as well as cinema4d, amorphium, carrara, ei universe, bryce, poser and several others. strata cx has a friendly interface, renders are quite nice. it does quite a bit, and people have modelled some amazing things with it's somewhat basic modelling toolset. bottom line: find something free and easy to learn, to get a feel for what does what...

same here, no shade registration number with any confirmation emails...when i first got a confirmation, then a back order email, i decided to cancel the order, and within a couple minutes, i got a shipping confirmation...very strange... they must have hired aliens to work there...; ^]

i started a new thread about this, not knowing about this one..
i too had no probs with the shade media mounting and installing [and also there is no serial number...; ^(] is that like a catch 22, where you need to register to get the serial, and need the serial to register???...lol
the application and bonus cd's do not mount, even after cleaning the media and the cd drive..i haven't tried multiple inserts, tho'...
you might be able to get it to mount on a network system and copy the whole disk onto the troubled machine and try installing that way, it did here[but i'm not too pleased with having to go that route...i read that someone else tried on 3 machines and it didn't work.

nothing free, as in tools, that i know of(it's a pretty new program...)..yeah...there was an upgrade path from 'any' 3d app not too long ago for ver. 2.5.3 for 189, which would have put you in the drivers seat of 'the pro' ver. for 89bux...sorry to tease...>g< ground plane tiling(furrowing?)...should be a couple of manners of toggling that puppy...in the environment window(where you set the ground plane) are 2 scale data entries, in the edit material window(drop down to see full features) at bottom is another menu button "compose maps", go into there and they are scalable...

last thing first?...insert a camera, double klik it...opens a view 'through the lens"... import esoterica, check and see if you are importing feet/meters...try something smaller...>g< also there is a feature to use a different scaling in the main window itself, in the edit menu (set default units)

there are tuts online@3d.com, if you have any modeling accumen at all, you should be able to breeze through this thing, really! remember, it has basic features, but if yer familiar with Myst( duh...) a prior version was used to render that. u can use illustrator eps files for lathe and extrude operations (saving as ill. 6 generally works pretty well, leaving extraneous adobe data behind).!!

actually, i use ssp quite a bit (* a couple of my pix) the new release is pretty cool, [a trimmed version of their] pro ware coming out soon. i know that ssp brought up that[NT] error when launched on the win platform, but it still would install...might not be the same issue...all in all...it is cool, and ....f..r..e..e
