Ok...this program requires to much maintenance and getting help is impossible.
And the rude help and put downs from the older users at blender artist.org has me discouraged.
The python security issues the developers decided to ignore(last month) has me concerned also.
Models take too long to build without modern modeling tools...like "Inset tool" and n-gon support, like Hexagon has. And It looks like blender foundation wants this program to be mainly a animation app.
Sure wish DAZ didn't kill Hexagon development.
Time to pick up Silo today and save up for Modo purchase by end of year. Been wanting Modo for sometime now anyways.
Free/open source is not what it's all advertised to be, I guess.
I'm beginning to understand why people buy the expensive 3d apps.
Oh well, time to move on.

Glad to be of some help...I was looking at the commits for the past 24 hours that day and remembered seeing the commit on that so called bug fix and kind of chuckled at the fix. When I saw your post, I remembered that the atmosphere was disabled...which should result in some sort of change in the render.
2 years ago, all the developers agreed that no new things were to be added to 2.5 until 2.49 was ported over to 2.5. beta version. This did not happen. Thus the reason were still in a alpha stage, and just about every part of blender is broken in some way, shape, or form.
I saw your post at blender artist.org...I must thank you for the laugh I had when reading your reason for editing your post...how true. I have not been there in about 6 weeks now...the same reason, lack of help. Here, I'm having a short conversation with myself:
http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=181309
As you can see...it's a valid question...at least I thought it was. By the way, this issue is caused by the "Smooth View" being broken...set the smooth view setting from it's default setting of 250 to 0.
If your post count is low or have not been there more that 3 years...It's like you do not exist.
To have the Blender Foundation direct users to that site for support is shortsightedness at best.
My partners here in the office are now having second thoughts on my Idea to get blender into the pipeline, mainly because of present support issues. I'm beginning to see the wisdom on this matter. Ton Roosendaal needs to address this issue...now. I see other company's raising
this issue also.
Again, happy to be of some help...later.

Hi CDI,
With amount of bugs being introduced every day by so much being added, I would guess that this is some type of bug. There are issues with nodes...rendering...texture/material assignment in World UI...just to name a few. In one bug fix, the atmosphere is "disabled" "when the sun lamp direction is below the horizon and needs to be recoded". This sound like this may or may not be your issue. I have not tried 2.5 in weeks.
Can read here...
http://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-blender-cvs/
I've given up on using 2.5 until it's out of Alpha release and may even wait till 2.6 as some have said they would do also. Mainly because of B_mesh being on hold till who knows when.
If you have personal contact with a developer that is working on this part of blender, I would contact that person, then file a bug report. If your a noob like me and do not have any personal contact with developers, then you may have to wait it out like I am and forget about sending a bug report. There dumping bug reports from new users. I've had it happen to me. I have no idea why? I do know that they are very touchy when asking why!
I truly wish that I had a solid answer for you...I hate it when I need questions answered and can not get any...anywhere.
Have you tried this set up in 2.49b to see if you get the same results? If it's the same, then it may be a carry over bug from 2.49 to 2.50.
Please post back if you get an answer, I am interested to know if it was the atmosphere getting turned off in that "bug fix" that's causing this.

Well, I'm starting to have doubts about the bug reporting. I do not understand this. I reported this navigation bug Mar 8th...I get a email from a matt ebb this weekend, saying that my bug report was closed due to the fact it was already reported and being worked on by someone else...4 weeks AFTER my reporting, and he insinuates that I'm wasting developers time. When I question this, I,m accused of getting "Personal".
I have never heard of such a thing.
I this typical, reporting bugs at blender.org?
All I wanted to do was to help out the developers there. If there treating people like this, maybe I'll just forget about helping them?
Thread: Display Issues with Blender 2.49 on HP Compaq Laptop | Forum: Blender
From what I've seen at other blender sites, people with this problem are being told to turn off any advanced graphics settings in windows. And if that does not work, wait for 2.5 to be released.
This is more of an windows issue than a blender issue. There is no longer any development or bug fixed for 2.49. So I can't even say file a bug report.
You may have to wait for 2.5...wish I had more.

Thank you ysvry for your reply. I have been to CG Society blender forum. Great site, but it looks like there's not much discussion on 2.5 bugs. I was looking for a place to get conformation on bug issues before reporting them to the bug tracker at blender foundation. I'm still learning blender...both 2.49 & 2.50. I dont want to load the bug tracker with useless bug reports.
I went ahead and reported the bug that I posted about at top, Matt Ebb is working on the issue now (bug report # 21510). Seems to be an issue with the "Smooth View" setting. If this issue is a problem for anybody out there...set the "Smooth View" setting to "0", for now. The default install setting is set at 250.
Thread: .2.5 alpha 2 | Forum: Blender
I wonder how many other 2.5 users come here to Renderosity?
I'm having a hard time confirming bugs that I run across. If there's enough users...maybe we can start a bug thread here at renderosity, to confirm issues, before sending reports to the bug tracker.

Yes...it's the alpha2, but the error has existed sense alpha1. Alpha 0 was fine, no erradic movement.
Although I do see what you are getting at as far as the rotation goes...maybe adding some extra hotkey, but the jumping at the end makes impossible to stop the movement where you want it to do so.
Thanks so much Touchwood, for confirming this bug, and I have reported this issue with the bugtracker at Blender Foundation.
I did not want to report non bug issues, making the developers jobs more complicated.
I've been following the commit logs for awhile now...looks like things are getting very messy at this point.
And thanks Pret-A-3D for the link...was surprised that real names are only allowed. Does this really cut out all the non-professional discussions and attitudes? If so, then Creative COW looks like the the place I've been looking for. I'm not looking for a facebook ego boosting forum...just blender tech support, without having to have a thousand posts. I'll check out Creative COW more today.

Thread: OT_External hard drive suggestions? | Forum: Blender
The funny thing is that I only use Western Digital internal hd's for the past 13 years(build my own systems) and only had 1 fail out of 6. The present one that is getting S.M.A.R.T. warnings is 5 years old...running everyday.
But the external drives...wow...so many problems...mostly heat issues. And the included software looked like it was designed for 2 year olds. Oh well.
But I got both my pc's with 500GB backup hd's and replaced the failing 160GB with a 360GB hd.
Everythings running fine now...using SyncBack Free for my sync/backup jobs...works good...think I'm going to get the SE version...$30...can install in up to 5 pc's...pretty good deal. I was surprised that I could not find a backup/sync app that was open source like SyncBack!
Thanks again all for the advice...

Came across a series of 43 python tutorials...very helpful.

Enjoy.
Thread: OT_External hard drive suggestions? | Forum: Blender
Nevermind...with all the problems with external hard drives I've seen, I'm giving up on this stupid idea of mine...lol.
I'm buying 2 more 500GB internal hard drives for each machine for backup, and a 3rd drive for the failing one.
At least I know that this will work.

Thank you alexcoppo for your offer for help with python. Right now, I'm still going through Dive Into Python by Mark Pilgrim. Also the blender python api. Having known html, java, and got my 3d start in P.O.V., it should not take too long to learn python. Just been away from coding for awhile.
Embarrassed to ask...w.r.t? First time seeing w.r.t. lol.
Just a quick question though...to see if I'm on the right track with an idea. Can I use python to stream audio? I'm looking to stream audio(music) into blender.
Others are attempting to do this, but are going to cache the audio, resulting in huge files and possible memory problems . I would like to get around this.
Anyways, thanks again for your generous offer for python help.
Happy Blending and Happy New Years...
